We just returned from a wonderful spring break trip. Here are reviews of where we ate. Please post any questions and I will try to answer. We were in the world from 31 March - 10 April. We are a family of 3 (DH, DD age 8, and myself). We eat out frequently at home. DD enjoys foods from different cuisines. We were on the silver plan (but would have eaten at these locations regardless). I have divided reviews into breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Whispering Canyon Breakfast (twice) - both meals were very good. We ate on arrival day for a late breakfast - almost no antics were going on. Last day breakfast at 9am we got to enjoy all the "happenings" in the canyon courtesy of Deputy Diane. The 19 bottles of ketchup were a riot. The food was good (skillets and a ham and cheese omelet) - service was better the second time. We would eat here again.

Kona Café – Breakfast – We decided that on this trip we had to try the famous “Tonga Toast”. We ordered a Tonga Toast, a Big Kahuna, and the kids Mickey Cake which we all shared. The Tonga Toast was very good (too sweet for an entire meal). We all enjoyed sharing our little “buffet”. DH (the coffee drinker) enjoyed his pressed pot. The kid’s pancakes are a very generous serving. We could not finish it all in the end. The service was very good. We would do this again.

Beach Club - Breakfast – Much better experience than dinner. The buffet was well stocked and fresh. The egg casserole (cheese, ham) was very good. We were expecting omelets but they were not offered. The waffles and French toast sticks were hot and fresh. DD enjoyed the krispy kreme donut. Service was a little lacking (had to request milk 3 times and water twice). The character costumes were terrific (I loved the tail holes for Chip and Dale). We saw all the characters at least twice. Minnie was not present that morning (Goofy, Chip, Dale). Would possibly do again (this and 1900 Park Fare are breakfast buffets we have enjoyed the most)

Ohana - Breakfast – DD and I did this while her father enjoyed his birthday present (Richard Petty Driving Experience). We loved the character costumes (especially Goofy and Mickey). The bread they give you to start with is excellent. The food in the skillet was standard breakfast fare (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes). In addition to Goofy and Mickey, Chip and Dale were also present for signatures/pictures. The maraca parade was a lot of fun. We had a wonderful table by the window (great view of the castle). Not my first choice for a breakfast character meal since the food was okay and the same characters are easily seen elsewhere.

Princess Storybook Breakfast – We loved this breakfast last year. This year it was as enjoyable. The food started with wonderful cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit. We were then served eggs, bacon, sausage, and the potato casserole. Unlike last year there weren’t any French toast sticks. The character interaction at this breakfast is wonderful. We saw Snow White, Mulan, Belle, Jasmine, and Auora in pink. We will try to do this breakfast again.

CRT – Breakfast – This was the once meal I was a little hesitant about repeating from last year. I am so glad we were able to try again. The meal started with fresh fruit and a bread assortment (no yogurt like last year). The food is still served pre-plated. It consisted of eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and the stuffed French toast – adults or French toast sticks - kids. This time our server was excellent. She was happy to bring DD some of the “adult” meal instead of the kid’s meal – our experience last year was I committed a “Disney Crime” by sharing the adult French toast with a child. The characters were wonderful (Cinderella, Snow White, Auora in pink, Mary Poppins, Belle, and the Fairy Godmother in the lobby). The characters are also on a very definite schedule – no time for extra talking or excessive pictures. A much better experience than last year.

First of all, thanks for all of your reviews! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_6_7.gif' alt='Thanks' border=0></a>

Secondly, I noticed you have done 1900 park fare for the Cinderella dinner as well as CRT and PSB. I want to tap your experience base! I have a soon to be 4 yr old dd who talks of princesses night and day (a real switcheroo for a mom of 2 boys prior to her!) She is ESPECIALLY fond of Cindy and Aurora. Last trip she and I went to PSB and had an awesome "girl's day" together. She did get to see Aurora at PSB, but later wondered -- why no Cinderella? I'm looking to do something similar with her on our August trip, but am torn -- is the Castle the "ultimate" experience, or will she be bummed that Cindy and the princess pack don't linger long at all? The preplated bfast there doesn't sound as good as the one at other places (and my dd, like yours, would want the real McCoy french toast, too -- not the sticks!) Was character interaction betterwith Cindy at 1900PF dinner? I'm wondering if a better route would be spending day with dd and maybe taking her to the castle for a Mom/dd special lunch, then maybe later even coerce the "guys" to leave DQ long enough to join us at 1900PF for dinner (they aren't ones to refuse a buffet, even if it does include princess schmoozing!)

ON the other hand -- if the Castle for CRT is every gal's dream, I suppose I'll be prepping my speed dialing skills within the next 25 days...and if I don't "connect", I'll revert to plan b above!

Thanks again -- great reviews!

Wonderful reviews ~ Thanx for sharing.

Somehow my Rice Krispies, just didnt cut it this morning after reading all those reviews. ;) Sounds like you had some great breakfasts. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent reviews for all three meals -- thank you!

Just one question: How would you rate the silver plan? Good value? Worth it for the convenience?

Cara

Great Reviews!!

We will also be trying PSB and CRT (well did CRT last time). My daughter was Aurora for Halloween and adores her, so in between the two, we hope to meet her.

Thanks for the great reviews.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Vavasmom for your wonderful detailed dining reports.

I enjoyed reading all three of your posts.

I have a couple of questions.

Where is the Princess Storybook Breakfast at?

Would you or anyone else happen to know the times for the Fort Wilderness campfire sing-along. We want to go to Hoop de doo and then walk over to the sing along.

Also, I read the Mickey mouse backyard bar-b-que is seasonally. What months are they performing?

Thank you again.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing!!!

I will try to answer questions but I may have missed a few:

PSB is in the Askerhaus Restaurant in Norway at Epcot.

All of us (DD, DH. and I) enjoyed all three princess events. The time with Cinderella was much better at the Dinner (which has the best food of three). If we could only do 2 I would pick PSB (more unique Princesses) and the Dinner (less rushed Cinderella and Prince Charming). We enjoyed the Castle for Lunch. We also caught Cinderella in the Throne room after eating (this is NOT guarenteed). The lunch (which was planned in case the breakfast didn't happen) gave DD a wonderful view of inside the Castle. Make sure that your DD is not expecting any characters.

Gopherit - I love the picture of your DD!

Concerning the silver plan - my analysis is that we basically broke even. We did several expensive things (Cirque, Hoop Dee Do), Brown Derby, and Parasailing. We also enjoyed the preferred parade area at AK (the fireworks at MK was "blacked out" for spring break). The EPOCT area also looks awsome but we were lucky enough to have an Illuminations cruise. It was nice having it prepaid. The package includes taxes and a 15% tip (we left additional tip money for all of the very good servers). Alcchol was also extra. Would we do it again - maybe - if we are planning the "big ticket items". DD did not like being stuck with the kids menu at the non-buffet locations. (in many cases she shared from our plates).

I don't know about the campfire - I think it was just about sunset (they show a movie after it). The Bar-B-Q was happening last week (not it is not inside - it is under a covered picnic pavillion.

Thanks for the great reviews!! :) We are looking forward to trying the Cape may breakfast in Sept - glad to hear a great review after hearing that the dinner hasn't been so great here lately. ;)

We also were somewhat disappointed in the breakfast at 'Ohanna's last year. Some of the characters missed us & had to come back, the service wasn't very good & it was nearly impossible to get refills of any food - especially more Mickey waffles. We don't intend to return there anytime soon.

Thanks again!
