We are driving from Chesapeake VA, taking 95 down. Last time we made it to Savannah(about 8 hours from us), but this time we will have dd 6 and ds 16 months. We still want to try and make it at least 6 or 7 hours. We would really like to stay somewhere nice, somewhere the kids can swim, so maybe something with an indoor pool. I want to tire them out in the morning so they will nap some the rest of the day. Any ideas of where we might be at that point or a really great place to stop? TIA!!

Have you considered leaving very early am when the kids are still sleepy?
When my son was in those years and we drove from NY, we would leave at 3:00 or 4:00am. Everything would be packed and ready to go. Then just as we are ready to leave, we put him in the warmed car. He stayed asleep. It would give us time on the road before he woke up for the day. Then you can still probably make it to Savanah or even a little farther and stop and let them play in the pool and tire themselves out so everyone gets a good nights rest. The next day is easy because you have 2 or 3 hours to go and you're at Disney. We actually had it pretty easy when he was that age. Now that he is 14, we get the "how much longer?".

I tried that once with my dd when she was 2. It was just me and her and a 8 hour road trip. She slept 30 minutes! Neither of my kids are car sleepers.

Yuk...sorry to hear that.
The County Inn and Suites Savanahh Gateway is very nice. Clean and family oriented. There is a website you can go on that has all kinds of information for traveling on I95 and the exits. It tells you about good hotels and nearby restaraunts. There are forums where you can ask questions and read about other peoples experiences on their stops. It is a great resource by exit numbers heading both southbound and northbound. You can find information about a few different stops so you are prepared when the kids (and you) have had enough driving for the day.
I usually have a few places in mind and as we get closer, I call ahead and make a reservation for the evening so I am sure to get a room.

Hope this helps. Have a great trip. :wizard:
