Im looking at 2BR in March. Taking the family.

My options are in the poll!

Taking the parents. Its not about the difference in points etc. Just which is the best.

Both theirs and my first ever DVC stay.

I am mid 40's...... No kids. Just me, other half and parents.

Its also coming up with 2BR and 2BR lock off - same points. Any idea which is best?!

Are you planning on paying cash or renting points? Or are you a new DVC owner?

A lockoff is a combo of a studio and a one bedroom. So the second bedroom will have one queen bed and one sleeper sofa (or another queen bed at OKW), plus a kitchenette.

I would go with a 2 bedroom Theme park view at Bay Lake on the upper floors. Especially if it is your first visit.
Good wow factor!

Will be as DVC - so not cash. Yes, new owner.

Since there are only 4 of you, 2 couples, it might actually be nice to have the lockoff because the couple who stays in the second bedroom can keep the sleeper sofa closed for extra space in the room (though really, you'll have plenty of space with the common living room and kitchen area!).

I like the Boardwalk to be able to walk to Epcot and HS, but AKL savannah view is a unique expeirence. AKL Kidani and BLT 2-BR have a third bathroom, but with 4 people you might not need it.

If the world doesn't fall apart again, Disney should have another Flower & Garden Festival in the Spring. I'd go with an Epcot resort. If you drive or rent a car, BCV has a very convenient parking lot for the villas. BWV, not so much.

Or just book your home resort. It's always nice to stay where you bought for the first time.

AKV-Jambo standard are pool views or lesser Savannah views and a very good points saver, if that matters. Lots of places to view animals. We don't book Savannah view anymore.
Dedicated and lock off 2BR are all the same points. Dedicated should have 2 Queens, LO have queen and full sofabed, except OKW, which have 2 Queens in all.

Home Resort is Bay Lake Tower.....

Do you have the points now? I would book the Theme Park View to start with.

You should find AKV, OKW both open to easily book. The others could be hit or miss and possibly will not have options for a full stay and would require a split stay.

BWV as an example is all lockoffs so when people book the Studios the 2BR also disappears.

I would practice booking, looking at whats available, and how to split the stay (pretend to select just partial number of nights). Final note is that lets say day 1-4 and 6-7 are open. If you try to book 1-7 it will do a waitlist (nothing is booked) if however you book 1-4, then book 6-7, finally you can put in a wait list for day 5 (possibly grabbing a different hotel for that night as a last resort)

I agree with the recommendation for a 2-bedroom lockoff Theme Park View at BLT, especially for your first visit as a DVC member to your home resort. You'll be legitimately proud to say "We own this!"

I think it depends on the parks you plan on visiting the most. I love Beach Club because of it's location - you can walk to Epcot and take the boat to Hollywood Studios. I've never stayed at Boardwalk but I've heard good things about it. I really like Animal Kingdom Lodge - the Savanna view, especially. But I wasn't a fan of the transportation - it's only close to Animal Kingdom and we waited a while for shuttles to get back to AKL from the various parks (other than Animal Kingdom).

With no kids, I vote Beach Club or Boardwalk view at BWV. Beach club is serene and relaxing and a quiet pool while everyone dukes it out at Stormalong for chairs. Lots of light. Quickest walk right into world showcase, short walk to flying fish which I highly recommend. Great little quick service and gift shop. Boat to DHS. And they have a spa.
AKV Jambi would be memorable and Jiko and Boma are stars but the rooms are dark and the hallways long and it’s FAR to get to anything else and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. As long as you appreciate those couple of quirks, I’d say for a 1st visit that would be my 2nd choice. I’m fact, if you’re staying more than 8 days, I’d split it I’m two and do AK Jambo followed by BCV.

OMG - I just voted for Kidani - ask for a Sunset Savannah view and tell them it's your first visit there. It is the most relaxing place.

I would have said BLT with the theme park view, but with no fireworks, I'd skip it.

It depends what you are looking for. If GF is available, I would probably make that my first choice as i think points are similar between GF and theme park view BLT. BLT is great too, SSR preferred view is also nice with teh ability to walk to DS, AKV is very relaxing, BC tends to have lots of kids and be really busy - best pool - but i would probably take BW over BC and CCV is also a great choice- another relaxing resort with the boat launch to MK

I’ve never stayed in BLT theme park view, you seem to look over the parking lot to the MK, I think that is what puts me off.

Thats why I would want to stay. But its in March so who knows if fireworks are on.

You can always have a lake view, which will be very quiet.....

Last night I voted BLT for that "Wow" view factor, but I was thinking about it later and this is my new thought.

When you travel with someone else, you have to be more considerate of their needs. (And sometimes that is a drag because you have to "find" things for them.) I think ease of location and availability of food are of utmost importance. My new suggestion for you is Beach Club. Your parents could wander that location and fend for themselves. The amenities there just make relaxing easier!

I voted BLT. Theme park view is great, but really any work for me. 2BR's are big there and it has been one of my favorite stays. If there are just 4 of you, two in each BR, go with lock-off. If you need 2 real beds in the second BR, go with dedicated. Since BLT is your home resort and you can book now, I would. Have you considered a split stay? If you can get into them, both BWV and BCV are awesome because of the walking ability to 2 parks and central location to many resorts and restaurants. I would book 2 stays at BLT. Days 1-4 on one reservation and days 5-7 on another. At seven months you could modify either one to a different resort and never risk having BLT for the entire week. If you end up staying at BLT for both halves based on availability, you can call MS and they can combine both reservations into one so you don't have to check out and check in.
