Where to stay?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to decide where to stay when I go to Disney in October. When I was there in 2014, I stayed at the Pop Century, and it wasn't bad. However, I would like to try all the different hotels in Disney. Here's my dilemma. Should I stay at one of the value resorts like the All stars, or should I stay at one of the nicer ones. Two of the nicer hotels I was looking at were both the Port Orleans ones.
I'm going solo, and I'll also have a car. I am planning on being at the parks all day, and not spending too much time in the hotel. I'll probably only be there to sleep.
Is it worth it to pay the extra money to stay at a nicer hotel, or save the money, and stay at a value hotel?

Because you have the car, I'd save money and do a value, especially since you won't be hanging out at the hotel.

I'd stay at Port Orleans. The rooms are more comfortable, the resort grounds are beautiful, and Riverside has a nice lounge with a great entertainer: Yeeha Bob! I think it would be a nice place to hang out after a long day at the parks.

I think I decided to stay at one of the Port Orleans. After doing research, I found out that they have a boat that takes you to Disney Springs. This would be much easier then driving there, and trying to find a parking spot. And it looks like the Port Orleans also have a hot tub. That was the clincher! LOL.

POR is a lovely resort and you made a great choice. Just wanted to point out that all the Moderate and Deluxe WDW resorts will have a hot tub.

POFQ is awesome! It is a small resort, very quaint and quiet, beautiful grounds and the boat to DS. We have stayed at all of the mods, and POFQ is probably our favorite.

POR would be a great choice. A warning though........It is such a beautiful resort that you might be tempted to spend a little more time relaxing there, and a little less time in the parks. It is THAT nice!

I was gonna say, treat yourself to a moderate! Why stay in a value if you don't absolutely have to...

Staying at certain value resorts can be obnoxious. Many groups stay there and can be loud. POR is relaxing and a nice place to be. You will enjoy it. Buses are also less crowded. I think you're making the right choice.

My family and I prefer staying at Port Orleans Riverside, even though the French Quarter is similar. We prefer POR because the theming is a little different (more understated), also we prefer the dining and entertainment options at POR (Boatwright's, Yeehaw Bob, etc.). Also, if hanging out by the pool is your thing POR has a conveniently placed pool bar that offers a variety of draft beers and mixed drinks. Can't go wrong with either resort though!
