So this will be our 2nd trip to WDW. The first time we stayed at AKL. Not sure what our "technical" room was, but we were on the lowest floor with a balciny over looking the Savana. We had a double with a bunk bed room. At the time Dh was working for the Disney Company, so we got our hotel room 1/2 off and free admission for 4 of us into the parks. This is the only reason we did the AKL. We LOVED it. The kids had so much fun. We also knew that Disney was selling dh's company and we would no longer have those "perks". Well we are now trying to plan a more cost efficent trip. We are planning on using our tax return and if that is not enough, dh has a part time job. So let me through out some of our questions/concerns and I am welcome for advice.

After staying at the AKL, I am not sure I would be happy with a budget hotel. But with the size of our family, (3 Adults, 5 Kids dd8, dd7, ds5, ds3, ds17 months) I am not sure we will be able to afford something other than the budget hote. I know we want to stay in the park, so another hotel is not an option. Dh wants our room to stay around 150 a night tax included, but I dont see that happening. We will be staying Sunday - Friday, but we are flexable with dates. Also dose anyone know if the larger rooms book up fast at any time of the year?

Thanks for any input. I know part of the problem is trying to convince dh that we need to spend more than he wants for a room, due to our size.

With 3 adults and 5 children, you are planning on more than one room, correct? I believe the economy resorts on Disney property are approx. $79 per night. You could just get two adjoining rooms. I have never checked into the cost of the economy family suites so I don't know the cost there, or how many people can stay in the suite together. But it's worth checking.

Also, are you able to visit WDW during the school year? October and December (the first two weeks of Dec.) are absolutely wonderful times to visit Disney and the prices are very inexpensive, compared to summer or Spring when the prices are at their highest.

With those numbers I would totally recommend that you hop over to the DVC rent/trade board. You can stay in a 2 bdrm villa, and staying Sun-Friday is a great thing points-wise. The going rate is usually about $10 pp and all the DVC villas are deluxe. Different times of year have different point values. Go check it out.
