Hi! We are looking into taking advantage of the fairytale package for our first visit to WDW. I have a 7 and an 11 year old. I have options for either the Wilderness Lodge-regular hotel room or a studio at the Boardwalk Villas.

Does anyone have an opinion on which way I should go?

Thanks for the advice!

Welcome to The Dis! Congratulations on planning your first WDW vacation. You can't go wrong with either resort. I have never stayed at BWI so I can only tell you about Wilderness Lodge. We love it there! It is just a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom which is still our daughter's and my favorite park. You would take a bus to get to the other parks. At WL you could request bunk beds for your children. Check out these pictures. http://64.41.109.164/WL/index.htm There is also a long thread on the WL at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=192282

BWI also has a great location. You can walk to MGM or Epcot or take the boat. Of course its also right on the Boardwalk which is fun. Pictures are at http://64.41.109.164/boardwalk/index.htm

Good luck with your choice.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the advice and the links were great.

It is tough knowing what parks our children will want to visit not having been there before! If I knew that it would help us chose which resort makes the most sense....

WDW1stTIMER, welcome to the Dis.

The Number One Rule for a Fairytale Vacation Package is that it must be booked for the resort that your heart most desires, otherwise it wouldn't be a fairy tale, right? ;)

Seriously, you can't go wrong with either the WL or BWV. The BWV is my second favorite resort and I adore it. If you will be spending most of your time in the Magic Kingdom, then I think you should book the WL. If you will be spending most of your time in Epcot or Disney Studios, then you should book the BWV. Each resort is unique and has something different to offer. Pour over the many threads here on the Dis and see if what you read makes you want to pick one resort over the other. Of course, you could always do what I do when I can't make up my mind -- resort hop. A majority of my vacations are spent at multiple resorts (my family's record "hopping" is six times in one vacation, while our "norm" is usually two times).

I have stayed at both resorts and they are both magical. Is there a huge difference in price? That could be a deciding factor. We loved the boat from WL to MK. But we also loved being able to walk or boat to MGM and Epcot from BW. They are both wonderful and you will love whichever you choose. Good luck! :Pinkbounc

I think that you cannot go wrong with either one. However, I like WL fine but do find the rooms a little small for our family of 4 ... but do-able. I prefer the larger rooms but price is a big factor for us. I would say that if price is a big factor ... being first timers you are going to want to have extra $$$ for the parks ... go for WL. If price is not a factor and you can afford the BW ... I would stay at BW. We have stayed at the YC/BC across the way from the BW and really like that area of resorts. The transportation to Epcot and MGM is great and the bus rides to MK and AK are not bad either. I bet your 7 year old will love MK and the 11 year old will love Studios so plan to spend time in all the parks!!

Happy deciding!

WOW! Thanks for all of the help. I can see that whatever we choose it will be a great experience for us. I really appreciate everyone giving me some feedback. I am ready to go! Can't wait for August and to get it all planned, the kids will be thrilled.
