Obviously my booking window is soon and I haven’t really down a whole lot of thinking about it because it’s 7 month booking and I figured I’d see what was available. We have a big party so 2 bedroom or 2 studios at POLY is the plan. What are your favorites? I’m thinking VGF or POLY. But CCV, BLT, BCV (as a waitlist). VGC is my home and I LOVE it. Opinions/advice go...

Given that your window is still upcoming, have you looked at RAT?
BCV is already a lost hope. Depending on your dates, every other listed 2BR has gaps save one instance. Getting two studios at Poly will take a miracle, since they have to be booked one at a time and once you have one in hand, there won't be others left.

I think you're going to land at Saratoga, truth be told. RAT is pretty wicked right now, and the people who ARE booked won't be switching, because there's nowhere to switch to. You can hold out hope for a waitlist.

I have a 2 bd at VGF for my 1st week (then we are going to another part of Florida to visit family for the weekend). I’m trying to figure out which resort I should try for for the 2nd week. Really looking for advice and opinions on all the resorts too since I’ve never been there (to Disney World that is)

I just booked a 2-bedroom for 5 nights in October, and my options were SSR, OKW, and VGF. That was it. Booked OKW at 8am on the day my window opened (which is what we wanted anyway) and by that night, I would have had to waitlist.

Wilderness lodge has always been my favorite, so I love Copper Creek and Boulder Ridge. Also love Animal Kingdom Villas. Poly studios are great, too. Seems like it’s getting harder and harder to book at 7mos just about anywhere though!

I was looking today at October for fall break and it looks pretty filled up already. I think we will pass this year. I was rather iffy about it because we just booked a cruise for next March. That 11 month window is getting to be really important.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I’m used to going back to the hotel mid day and eating a “dinner” at lunch time with my family (9 of us total). Which resort has the best transportation?

Put in your dates into the booking tool and see what comes up available. Then ask questions about those specifically. Many you won't be able to book because they are already booked up.

I just booked a week in October starting on Columbus Day at the BWV’s. Today was my 7 month window. There were a lot of options open for us, so not bad. Now the BCV’s are our home resort. I booked it just 3 weeks ago and only had 4 nights available so I waitlisted the others. At my 7 month window, I switched to the Boardwalk since I could book the full week in a 1BR.

It really depends on which park you're coming from. No resort is close to every park.

I got the grand Floridian already. So I’d like to hear about that one. Right now there is availability for ccv (Brv is also available but I figure I’d want ccv over brv), blt (Lakeview) , BCV (altough I don’t expect that one to stay), and akv kidani (savanna) And ssr and okv -but those are backups. Thanks.

This is possibly our only trip out to Disney World. I’d like to not blow it because of my inexperience planning there.

I have booked the grand Floridian already for the first half of my trip. How does that one stack up? Any advice on staying there? Is it feasible that we’d want to go back to the resort for lunch from anywhere other than MK? (We have kids ages 11, 9, 7, 5, 3)

How are you finding availability for a week at a time in a two bedroom villa for BLT, CCV, BCV? I don't see more than a night or two in a row.

I’ve never stayed at VGF but have toured there, and the two-bedrooms are beautiful. That will convenient to MK and you can also get to Epcot via monorail, but you have to switch monorails at the TTC. We honestly find that getting to DHS and AK are a challenge from any of the MK resorts (resorts on the monorail).

While some people complain about longer bus rides from AKV, we had great bus service when we stayed there. It’s a very unique resort, and I’m sure your kids would love it. We love the restaurants there.

If your options become more limited, we’ve had great experiences at SSR and OKW. Their central location makes travel to DHS and EP easy. Maybe not as easy as BCV or BWV, but you won’t get those in October.

To get from park to resort and back to a park, you should plan on an hour plus any time to eat. When our kids were younger, we found that we did well going back to the resort mid-day every other day and pushing through then getting to bed earlier on the alternate days. They love the resorts and always want to spend time there.

I’m sorry I’m only doing 3 nights the 1st week we are there (tues -check out Friday/oct 15-18) and 3 nights the 2nd week (oct 21-24). I understand the confusion now - my fault.

Just to put in a plug for BR vs. CC, the living room area is noticeably larger in BR. And you have a lovely quiet large lobby at BR vs. hectic WL lobby, now that Artist Point is so popular. I would agree it is less modern and sleek, but still charming and you are on the fantastic WL property.

I love both BR and CC, my trip in 6 weeks is CC and I have stayed there 2X before (but never in a studio like this upcoming trip). At CC we had a 1BR and then switched to a 2BR, and we noticed the smallness of the CC living room in the 2BR, when we had 5 adults in our group. We noticed it less in the 1BR, when only 3 of us. A party of 2 in a 1BR might not even notice it.

Thank you for the input. That is really good to know - space is always important. How do you feel about the busing to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom/the transportation there in general? I stayed one of the cabins there in fort wilderness when I was a kid (the only time I’ve been to DW) and my parents said the rides felt really long.

The thing about any of the MK resorts is they're a long way from anything but Magic Kingdom. The way campus is shaped, the Magic Kingdom area is sort of an island. It's not central.

Would AKV be better for transportation to Hollywood studios than an MK resort? (We would stay at Floridian the 1st week)

If I were staying at VGF the first week, I would stay in another, non-MK area resort the second week. I think AKV would be a good pick, especially if your kids like animals. You could get to AK very easily from there and HS would not be bad either.
