Ok since I guess we are doing the 2008, last ever, Minnie 15K, I thought it might be nice to stay at the same resort as other WISH Team members.

We are not DVC owners so we have to stay at a regular resort. Where was everyone else planning to stay.

We are staying at the Swan for the ToT and the Dolphin for the Marathon weekend. We have stayed at the other Epcot resorts so we thought about another resort this time. We stayed at the Coranado and it was ok.

We are open to ideas, we have plenty of time and everything is open for reservations.

Ever in search of a bargain, I'll probably wait to book a resort until I can compare the rates Anthony Travel offers (the official travel agent of the Minnie, according to the Minnie Marathon's "Book a package" page) versus the AAA rate. Here's the link to the Book a Package page:

Unless something very out of the ordinary happens, I'll probably end up at a value resort. (Remember, I'm also paying for two teens during the trip! :laughing: ) If something unusual happens and I can swing it, I may spring for the "Princess package" they mention on the "Book a Package" page. We won't be staying long, as it is during a really busy pre-exam-prep time for them, and this is (supposedly) the last Minnie, so I might be able to work something out if the price is right.

Hi Dave,

I have stayed just about everywhere other than DVC resorts at WDW. If you are looking for a deluxe resort the Poly is cool. I love standing on the beach looking across at the castle, and the monorail access to Mk can't be beat. My favorite moderate resort is CBR. Stayed there a lot during the 90's as it was my parents' favorite. It has a Caribbean theme and a beautiful white sand beach with hammocks. It is spreadout though, and depending on which area you are in it can be a bit of a hike to the food court. Lately I have been staying at Pop. It is a value resort. No doubt about it, the rooms are smaller and the beds are only full size. However, I love the over-the-top theming and the lake setting is beautiful, the only place in WDW that you can get a water view at the standard price. The food court is adequate and I've always found the bus service to be great (never stayed during the summer or other peak times though). DD and I stayed there this past May for Minnie and it was perfect.

It is fun to try new places! Good luck in your decision.

Hello Pat:yay: We have stayed a the Coranado also and except for the Pepper Mill food court we enjoyed it. We thought the attitude of the workers in the Pepper Mill was very unDisney.

We end up stay away from the other WISH groups so this time we want to see if we can stay where some of the rest of you are staying.

I think I'll wait to see what kind of deals they have closer to the time. Plus, I have to go through my usual "oh, I just don't know... I really want to go... but should I?!" nonsense, even though I know perfectly well I am SO THERE! :cool1:

I usually take my mom once a year or so for a girls weekend with DD (the beauty of living within driving distance!) I think I may work the mother's day angle for the Minnie. Maybe my mom, DD, and I can do the 5k (dragging the then 2 year old? or maybe a sitter?); then I can do the 15k...

I was just sitting in my office planning out the Goofy training and laughing hysterically at the image of running 18 or 20 miles the Sunday after Thanksgiving! The most pathetic part is that no one popped in to see what had finally sent me over the edge...:rolleyes1

You won't regret your decision to do the Minnie- my medal is hanging on the edge of a frame peaking out at me from behind my monitor- every now and then I have to lean over to get a better look. I feel like such a dork, but it always makes me happy!:love:

CBR = Carribean Beach Resort

CSR = Coranado Springs Resort

Carribean Beach is next to Pop Centuary and across from the back of Epcot. We have stayed there as well and it is tied for first with Port Orleans Riverside for our favorite moderate.

Jen that was funny and it sounds just like me. Erica is much more realistic, "wanna do another trip to Disney"? sure lets go. I have to mull it over and look for a good reason not to do it.

Bill I do get all the initials mixed up. I have a good portion of Pooh in me.
