Making plans for our first Disney cruise...HOW EXCITED ARE WE?!??!

We've never been to Port Canaveral - driving from New Orleans - and looking for a hotel for the night before boarding. Amenities not important since it's only a place to sleep and leave but safety and cleanliness are a must.

Any suggestions???

Thanks for the link to a great site - tons of info I'm sure I'll use! BTW, love your ID - watching Harrison Ford in Raiders as I typepirate:

we like to stay at days inn in titusville. its only 25 minute drive and you have lots of food places close by and if you like walmart there is one of those close by to get any last minute things for your cruise. and the gas was 5-7 cents a gallon cheaper at walmart. i hope this helps. oh yeah get the room on expedia and you will spend $50 for 1 night for 2 alduts and 1 child

I'll second the vote for Day's Inn in Titusville. We stayed there just this past week. Here's why we liked it:

It was right off the interstate -- literally, we could SEE it as we pulled off, so it was EASY to find.

It's only 25 minutes from the port.

We paid only $45 per night with the AAA discount.

We had free continental breakfast the next morning (sausage biscuits, doughnuts, bagels, cereal, juice, milk, coffee).

It was near a Super-Walmart, which was a Godsend when I suddenly realized I hadn't packed any black socks for DH to wear with his suit to dinner on the cruise.

It was near plenty of restaurants for dinner: Wendy's, Denny's, McDonalds, Ryans -- probably more that I can't remember.

They had a pool that looked clean and decent, though we arrived late and left fairly early and didn't swim.

I don't mean to purport it as a luxury hotel -- it certainly is not. But it was clean, safe, cheap, and convenient; and that's all we required for the short time we stayed there.

We had already decided that we preferred to drive our car to the port (rather than take a shuttle like the one at the Radisson) because we wanted to be able to walk off the ship and go straight to our car after the cruise.

This past September we stayed the night before the cruise at the Holiday Inn express in Cocoa Beach. Rooms were fine and I got it on Priceline for about $39.00 bucks plus tax.

we also stayed the night before at the Holiday Inn express in Cocoa Beach. It was nice and clean.

Did the Holdiday Inn Express offer a Continental Breakfast?

How did you get to the port? A taxi? Thanks! ;)

We stayed in Cocoa Beach - between the Pier and the Catholic Church - great area with lots to do, especially going to visit Shirley, Norm and Rose!
