I have a friend, BLT owner, that is staying at SSR in May. She needs some help on where to stay.

She has 4 kids ranging from 7 to 4 months so they want a quiet section for the kids to sleep.
They will have their car so will not be using the bus system.
They want to be able to walk to DTD pretty easily.
They would like to be close to a pool that they can all enjoy. Maybe with a splash park.

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

My favorite section, for it's proximity to DTD and for the view, is Congress Park. I've requested Congress Park, DTD view 3 times and have gotten it each time. There is a quiet pool right near by, you can walk to DTD or boat which ever you prefer, the boat is lovely at night. Even with DTD right there, it's quiet and peaceful, SSR has beautiful grounds. We usually get a 2br on the 2nd or 3rd floor, we've enjoyed every stay!

Also, the main pool with slides etc is only a 10-15 minute walk from Congress Park, as is the Turf Club (Excellent restaurant, great prime rib) and the Artist's Palette (CS)!

View from the balcony Nov 2010, the 2 previous times we had a complete view of DTD, but this was still lovely!

Never been there but thinking of going in Oct. Debating over congress park or paddock due to new feature pool that will open this summer.

Another vote for Congress Park. GREAT area. We request it every time we stay at SSR. Make sure to request a DTD view and an upper floor.

With kids it is great. At night after they would go to bed DW and I would sit on balcony and have a glass of wine watching DTD.

CP is very quiet, has a nice quiet pool and play ground right next to pool. DD loved playing on the playground and we enjoyed the quiet pool more than the feature pool.

Walk to DTD is only a few minutes.

Congress Park again!

We'll be there in a few weeks and I plan to have a live video feed off our balcony.

I'll post a link when I have it going. You can see the view from Congress Park (assuming we get Congress Park).

I would say CP but with the children and not using the busses the springs might be a good fit. A little longer walk to DTD but if you want to be close to a pool with a slide and zero entry for the small ones its just across the street.

Particularly with such small critters, and assuming the 7 year old and the next oldest are going to have to go on their own feet, I'd want that DTD walk to be as short as possible, if you're doing it more than once. I'd definitely choose Congress Park.

Using the boat probably doesn't simplify things. Last time we were there (summer '09), the boat only dropped off on the West Side near Characters in Flight, which is a significant distance from the Marketplace, at least half as far as walking from CP. Anyone know if this is still true?

Another vote for CP. Great walk to DTD Marketplace. If you want the DTD view, definitely request it. Not all CP units have that great view. I found that out the hard way. ;)

Yes CP would be the best based on the walking distance to DTD and when we were there in Jan the boat drop off was still characters in flight.

DH and I were officially dubbed "CP Snobs" on our last trip by fellow CP snobs. We have only stayed in Congress Park and have decided that a bad view in CP is better than not staying there at all. It's about a 5-7 minute walk to the carriage house and the springs pool. The quiet pool at CP is very nice and it's about a 5-7 minute walk to DTD. We love it there!

Have to agree with Chellymouse there is not a bad building at Congress Park, which can't be said, in my opinion for the other areas.

CP :thumbsup2

Thanks for all of the advice! I guess I need to find out which is mostimportant to her, the DTD walk or a pool for a 7, 5, and 3 yo. I am thinking with kids so young I would not spend a ton of time at DTD but more time at the pool or parks but I don't know how they vacation.

BEASLYBOO those pictures are great. Love all the walking areas at SSR and we can not wait to stay in Dec. I thought about requesting the Paddock section for our trip but you guys are sure selling me on CP!! Maybe I can become one of those snobs too

DH and I just stayed at CP in March and loved the proximity to DTD and the tranquility of the pool after the bustle of the parks. A friend and I spent a great evening relaxing and sipping wine on the rocking chairs overlooking DTD while the menfolk relaxed in the spa. Magical. :thumbsup2
