Where to stay at POP Century?

We'll be arriving at POP on 10/13 for a week long adventure. We have a 3 year old daughter and 4 year old son and this will be their first time to WDW. Where should I request a room when I fax them 3 days before our trip? Should I be on the ground floor? Should we ask for a room facing the lake? The kids will need their sleep (us too!) so I don't want to be in too noisy of an area.

Is there anything special going on at POP during that week?

Thanks for the help,
Mike:banana:

We were in the 50's rooms 2120 and 2121- 1st floor and they faced the back. Very quiet and not too far and they had a pool right there!

Do NOT request the 80's section, unless your little ones can handle about a 7 minute walk to the food court! It was fine for us (2 adults) who really needed the exercise, but I couldn't imagine trying to haul 2 little ones (I have 5 and 7 yo DD's) after a long day at the parks back to that area from the bus stops or Classic Hall. It would probably be worth the extra $$ for you to pay for a preferred location.

the 50's or 70's - if you don't have a car then add the 60's -

only the rooms near the pool or food court are preferred.

I like a lake view (non-preferred)

We were just in the 70's section last week in the bldg. with the 8 track tapes. Our room was on the ground floor and it wasn't too bad a walk to the food court or the bus stop. It was longer than our POFQ walk, but then again we paid a lot less this time. We have a 5 yr. old and a 1 yr. old, and we used the stroller every time we went to the food court, and of course to the bus stop. I would definitely say that you should request a ground floor, especially if you will have a stroller. That way you won't have to walk to the elevator, then to your room and maybe be backtracking a little. You will be able to go directly to your room on the ground floor. We never had any problems wiht noise. Hope this helps, have fun!

We stayed in the 70's ground floor back by the lake. The walk is about 5 minutes to the food court and busses though. We didn't mind it and my DD2 loved the walke, and insisted on walking most of the time even though we had her stroller with us always. It was quiet too. I loved the ground floor, but many think they aren't as quiet. I will alwys put ground floor as my first request, but I hate to wait for elevators too.;)

We've stayed in the 80's, 90's and 50's. I preferred the 80's because it was the closest to the buses. We would walk across the parking lot, instead of walking through the main building. (Note: 70's actually seems the closest to the buses, but it's the only section without a pool.) When we had a car, we stayed in the 90's first floor and loved it because we parked about 10 feet from our door. This last trip, when we stayed in the 50's I felt we were a long walk from the buses. If you are looking for quiet, I would suggest either lake view or an upper floor.
