Where to request room OKW?

We are arriving early in the morning, and some have told me that will give us more choice of rooms. What buildings are your favorites?

In almost 20 trips, I have stayed at quite a few buildings at OKW, and I can honestly say I haven't had a bad spot yet. I love the South Point area( buildings 51-56, but building 46 is great too. On the other end of the resort, we liked building 21 for the sunrise, and building 13 was extremely peacful. The only downside I have ever had was in building 64, and that was because there is no parking lot associated with that particular building.

What I am trying to say is that you shouldn't stress about which building too much here. You don't say what size unit. If you are only staying in a studio, be advised that the studios tend to be on the outside corners of the buildings, and often have obscured view Anything 1,2,or 3 bedroom will have a huge deck and most have spectacular water, woods or golf course views.

I like the Turtle Pond Road area. We had great water views in 31, 37 & 43.

Everyone has a favorite place at OKW...they are very good about granting room requests. The general manager told me a couple of years ago that over 50% of the requests were for the buildings right by the hospitality house and of course most of those cannot be granted, but almost all others if you request someplace else are granted.

The good news is there are a lot of "best" places at OKW...personally we love the Peninsular Road buildings (23 - 27), but my mother always wants to stay in 45 or 46 because of the waterway views, my oldest sister swears Turtle Pond area is the absolute best and my other sister loves 18 and 19 (millers Rd)....that is one really nice thing about OKW....it feels like home to everyone and as we all know our home is BEST!!

I am in a studio. Does that change where I should request?

Thanks!

Also, in looking at the map, it is tough to tell what the scale is. How far is it from the south point buildings to the HH? I love to walk!

Well, my personal favorite spot is the Southpoint area. I like that it's a bit off the beaten path, & there's a bus stop and a quiet pool close by.

Second favorite would proably be the Turtle Pond area...again, a bit off the beaten path, quiet pool & bus stop nearby. I don't particularly care for anything along Peninsular Road, which is the main drag, nor do I like the Miller's Road area. Neither are terrible, but I jsut prefer to be a bit away form the "action".

That being said, if you are a person who likes to be near the action, then Miller's Road or Peninsular Road might be a better bet, since they are closer to the main area and the main pool.

Really, there is no terrible spot in OKW...that's one of the beauties of the resort.

Corar - We just stayed at OKW for the first time in a studio. We were in the South Point area in building 48. It took us 10 minutes or less to walk to the Hospitality House and it was a very pleasant walk. We checked in at 9:00 pm so we got what was left I would guess. The room was fine except that it was HA and the very small balcony overlooked trees and the AC units. It was only a 1 minute walk to the bus stop though and that was nice.

Since you're staying in a studio, try and request a 2nd or 3rd floor because the ground floor studios tend to be surrounded by thick vegetation. An upper floor would offer a less obstructed view.
We loved building's 43, 46 and 62. Bldg 62 was great for proximity to HH as well as view of Illuminations from balcony (we could even hear the music).

Just got back last night, I was a little disappointed with my location. We got there about 2ish on saturday, asked for 1st half (10-26 NS) the only thing available was 1 br ha, which did not need, or bldg. 30, or bldg. 29 1st floor. 2911 We took this one, never again, no view, the trees were so grown up you could not see a golfer, hear but not see, totally dark in front of balcony.
We have been members since 92, I never have gotten a pool view, water view, only rooms in the first half. We have stayed over 20-25 times at OKW, does it seem that the members get the lesser, and the renters get the better locations, or is it just me?

Thanks for the report on that 1 BR. Although we've never stayed on Miller's Road, there've been lots of positive comments about views in Buildings #17-20, at least in the 1 BRs.

You probably should have taken building 30. We had a great room in building 31 a few years ago. The worst view we ever had was 28, which is almost as bad as 29. We had 37 last week, which was a great view. We've also had 26, 43, 40, all with good views. All my stays were 1 bedrooms on points. You said you only got rooms in the first half, but in the first paragraph you said you requested first half. If you didn't want first half, you should have requested 30 or above.

Building 29 is completely hemmed in with vegetation, and has GVs on the top two floors, so the first floor units can also be noisy because of the hardwood floors in the GV above. We were in a 2 bedroom 1st floor in 29 a year and a half ago. While it didn't have much view, I liked the location for ease of getting to HH and the bus stop. Our biggest issue was the noise from the GV above. That is a word of advice I would give...Make sure if you have a 1st floor unit that it isn't in a GV building, because those hardwood floors above you make a lot of noise down below.

We always stay on penninsular road, the only "bad" building we had was 28. You can request a building when you book your ressie over the phone. Look at the map beforehand and give a list of what buildings you would like. We always request 26,27,23,24. I've also been but not stayed to the Turtle pond area and that's really nice too.

I would caution you on your assumption that arriving early in the morning gives you more choices. In fact, if you check in before 10-11 am you may have a choice of no rooms, because folks have not checked out yet or the rooms arent clean yet; or leftovers from the previous night. It's a game of chance. Just don't want you to have unrealistic expectations.
