We are making our first trip home in June to SSR with two studios, and we were wondering if anyone has an opinion if we should request a specific area in SSR.

Thanks for your time

There are two neighborhoods open now, Congress Park and The Springs:

Congress Park: Lines the waterway to Downtown Disney. Most rooms have balcony view of midnight fireworks at Pleasure Island. Depending on exact location, 5-15 minute walk from Downtown Disney. About 5-7 minutes away from the main pool / restaurant / gift shop.

All rooms in Congress Park have very easy access (1-2 minutes) to a bus stop, the Quiet Pool that overlooks Downtown Disney and a playground.

The Springs: Right across the street from the main pool / restaurant / gift shop. 15-20 minute walk to Downtown Disney. No balcony view of DD. Convenient access to bus stop.

I'd suggest requesting whichever area best suits your needs.

I would ask for the congress park area....the quiet pool is right there and the walk to DD is an easy 5-10 mins.

We just returned from a SSR visit with a room in Congress Park. We loved the rooms - by far the most elegant we have seen at Disney. Our one-bedroom was very well laid out.

If night time views are a priority for you - Congress Park is beautiful.

For closer access to the main pool, arcade, etc. I would choose The Springs. With older kids or teens who might be hopping over to use those facilities on their own, I would prefer that area. SSR is pretty spread out & busses seem less frequent than at OKW for hopping up to the main areas.

During our visit, the model units were located in our Congress Park building. Very busy & definitely placed a premium on parking. With our ground floor patio, I sort of felt like we were on display. I assume this will get better after the resort sales slow down.

Overall, I think any area of SSR will be great. They are doing a great job of using the spaces between buildings - lots of fountains and water features. For daytime relaxation, some of these will be prettier than the Congress Park view. For an afternoon rest & swim kind of family there will be lots of pretty balcony views in all areas; night owls will enjoy the DTD views in the evenings.

Be aware that the fireworks are LOUD from Congress Park, but by the time you wake up & hop out of bed to look at them - the show's over!

Hope this has convinced enough of you to stay away from this nigt owl's Congress Park room! :rotfl:

Thanks for your reply. I think we would probably enjoy being closer to the pool, there are not many nights that we stay up to midnight for the firework display at PI. Thanks again.
