where to put our camera at CC

After reading the message regarding the absence of lockers in Castaway Cay, I start worrying about our belongings - those "must" that we will bring to CC like our camera.

But if we go snorkeling, then we must leave those stuff somewhere. If we have to take everything back to the ship before we go snorkeling, we may have to take it back after snorkeling anyway as it is such a beautiful place where we may not visit again. We should grab every moment to take pictures.

Any suggestions how the belongings should be kept. That really bothers me!

Bring a waterproof camera for your time on CC. You're going to want to take pictures in the water, believe me. About the only thing we bring onto cc is the waterproof camera, snorkel gear, towels, and a book or something in a bag we can easily secure. if you're really worried, bring a bag you can use luggage locks on.

Unless I'm wrong the Post Office is the only thing that takes cash. The rest is charge to the key to the world card only for drinks/souvenirs.

Food is, of couse included, just like on the ship.

MarkRG is right on --
What he said in both his posts was true for our two cruises.

Even if we don't have to bring money, we still have to take our key. Where would you keep your key then while snorkeling?

And kept our keys inside the little waterproof boxes around our necks while snorkelling.

As previously stated all you need is for change for stamps at the Post Office. The rest on your KTTW Card. If I'm not mistaken, they will even deliver your packages back to the ship.

We bought waterproof camera for CC, and also brought all of our snorkeling equipment, I never really worried about it, and kept the keys in the bag with all of the fins and masks, no one touched it, I was more concerned that someone would take my sunscreen lotion, as that is really expensive there.......

We have always used a water wallet like the one shown at the DIS shop to keep our Key To The World card in. We just wear them when we go snorkeling and any time we are exploring the island.

One word of warning about the cameras - sand will ruin them. Something about the sand will short out some of the internal mechanisms and it may cost more to repair than replace (yes, learned that one the hard way). Consider bringing a zip lock bag to keep the camera in when you are not using it.

I bought the dis water wallet. It only took a few days to get it and my lime green t-shirt. Can't wait to use it!

I just wanted to agree and reiterate what others have said. (This really isn't something to worry about.)

1. Don't take anything of value with you to CC. Buy a couple of disposable, water proof cameras to take to the beach. (You can even take underwater pics while you snorkel with these.)

2. If you don't get one ahead of time, buy one of those plastic around-the-neck containers for everyone in your party and carry your ID and Key to the World card in that, around your neck, both onship and off. A couple of $ bills will fit in there too.

left my camera equipment on the beach both times and never really had a problem, I try to pick a populated area where people are but set my stuff off to the side, that way it would be very risky for someone to steal your stuff as with all the people around, how do they know you are not watching them, it would be very bold if someone stole your stuff on CC.

We left our equipment smack dab in the middle of the family beach and we left it with neighbors all around us knowing that we were the ones who that stuff belonged to. Who knows maybe they stole our stuff....but we left to get some lunch and when we came back we were without alot of it!!!

If I were you I wouldnt even consider bringing your really nice camera UNLESS you wanted to take pictures of the island and such and then go back to the room and put it in the safe. The sand, sometimes the humidity, and the risk of someone less than honest taking it isnt worth it in our opinion.

I would buy a pack of waterproof cameras and take pictures with them....it is doubtful that anyone would want a waterproof camera since they are a one time use! We lost our lenses, camera, wallet and I just found out talking to my inlaws (yes we have great communication here) that they also got their small canon elph digital camera stolen while we were eating lunch but didnt realize it until weeks later when they wanted to get the pictures off the card. I highly doubt that anyone is going to tell someone off for getting in a bag on a chair unless they are family sitting there and KNOW they dont belong in that bag. We asked several of the families around us if they saw someone get into our bags and one of the ladies said she remembered seeing someone but didnt pay too much attention because she didnt know if they were with our group or not! I just dont think you can be too careful!!!
Call me paranoid or whatever you want but I will never ever leave anything of value sitting in a beach bag anywhere!!!
