Do the onsite Disney food markets carry beer or wine? Wondering if we could purchase a bottle of wine and keep it in the room frig for a late night toast on the balcony. Or is that not permitted?

Thank you!

Pop, OKW that I know of have alcohol to purchase, Beer wine and hard stuff. Plus you can get alcohol in Ecpot in the countries. Tequilla and Kahula in Mexico - yummy!

Drinking is encouraged at WDW resorts! LOL They sell alcohol (at WDW inflated prices of course) in food courts and in the gift shops at resorts also. Just ask a CM. There are also pool bars, resort lounges, etc... for your drinking pleasure! LOl

Have a great trip!

If you are driving from anywhere to WDW, I would suggest you stop at a grocery or package store on your way in. You can pick up wine or beer or distilled spirits at a significant savings over what you would pay at one of the Disney shops. Remember, Disney wants you to be happy, but wants you to pay a lot for it. Our last trip, we stopped at a grocery store and bought a case of bottled water for about $3.50 -- in the Disney parks, it was $2 a bottle.

Thanks to all who replied! So happy and costly, ok I get it. :)

We are staying onsite without a rental car so I'm thinking our "cheaper" options will be limited.

If you are flying and checking a bag why not bring whatever you want in your checked luggage. I have did this several times with no breakage. I always wrap the bottle in bubble wrap and then double bag it just in case, but never any issues with this.

I've done the box of wine in checked luggage. I'm too much of a worry-wart to overly pack a wrapped bottle. Though the last few times I've bought a plastic bottle of either rum or vodka and packed that in the suitcase right in a zip-lock bag.

I have discovered overtime that the little cocktail size bottles they sell at the Liquor stores can go in the 1 quart plastic bag if they're under 3 ounces. I was willing to give up the bottle if TSA said it couldn't go through though. :drinking1 :drinking1

You could also take the DTD bus get off at the second bus stop at DTD -and walk across the street to the Hess gas station. They carry a variety of alcohol products. You can also pick up snack items. We do this all the time. We usually take a duffel bag and buy pop, water, snacks, fruit and take it back to our resort.
Then just walk back to the bus stop and catch the bus back to your resort. The walk to the Hess station is about 5 minutes both ways.

They also carry hot food items such as pizza by the slice, subs, nacho's. When we make the trip we grab a slice of pizza and a drink. Go outside and sit on the curb to eat it. For only a 1/4 of the price that Disney would charge.

Nice tip! Since I'm not going to any parks and I will be at POFQ for 3 days, I think I might stop here!

Thanks for the suggestion. That is such a great idea and I wouldn't have thought of it. My best friend and I are going in December and will probably be utilizing this cheaper option since we will also be carless. :bitelip:

Carless - What that is another tip I can share... We take the ME to/from the airport - hence leaving us carless. Now for my rental car tip. .....
We have been known to rent a car for a day while at Disney. There is an Avis rental car counter at the Hilton hotel which is across the street and a short 10 minute walk from DTD. We usually spend about $25 for the car rental. This gives us the flexibility to eat off property and to stop at the grocery store and pick up a few things. By spending the $25 for the car and eating off property you save so much money. Think about it. If for example you are a family of 3 or 4 how much would you spend to feed everyone lunch and dinner at Disney? Now how much would you spend to feed 3-4 off property? The money you save more than pays for the car rental and having the car gives you the flexibility to pick up a few things at the store which can save money verses buying those items at Disney.

Now I know Alamo/National have rental counters on Disney property but their rental prices have always been higher than the price Avis quotes me. Believe me I compare all the rental companies. Avis almost always has the cheaper rate. One time Dollar rental car was cheaper than Avis-Alamo & National so we went to I think its called the Regal Sun Resort - the one right across from DTD first bus stop. That big hotel on the corner there. Anyway we have picked up a Dollar car there.

Another option you could try is Gardengrocer.com or Wegoshop.com. You can't see the liquor/spirits option on GardenGrocer.com, but if you ask for what you want in the comments section, they will deliver it with your order. There is a minimum purchase & a delivery fee.

I use the GardenGrocer.com service for grocery items & water, so have not had any problem meeting the minimum. I've not used wegoshop.com, but have heard they are good as well.

You order online, pay, and tell them which resort you're staying at, what day for delivery. They'll deliver to your resort, and if you're not there at time of delivery, bell services will store your items, including refrigerated items in their refrigerator.

HTH. Good luck! And enjoy your beverages at the happiest place on earth!:goodvibes

I totally agree that this is worthwhile. I'm 22 and traveling alone (extra fee for being under 25), otherwise I'd totally do this.

Depending on what resort you are staying in, there is another Hess near the Boardwalk that might be closer. It's also about a 5 minute walk down the road from the Boardwalk entrance. When we stay at BWV or BCV, we usually walk over with our wheeled carry-on, buy beer, and then wheel it back! :thumbsup2

Hey Starshine, we are staying at the Beach Club, near the boardwalk. So do you mean we can walk there? That would be fantastic!

I think every airport I have been in has a liquor store in it. Was thinking of buying a bottle after landing in Orlando at the airport. No worries about packing one and airport prices are not too far off of liquor store prices.

Yep, you definitely can. :) It's a little more of a hike from Beach Club since you have to walk around the lake to Boardwalk first, but if you aren't planning on carrying a whole bunch of stuff back or if you take something on wheels to pull it back in it's definitely do-able.

The easiest way to get there from Beach Club is walk around the lake (or take the boat) over to Boardwalk. Then go up the stairs to the Boardwalk lobby and cut straight through to the main entrance doors that go out the other side where the valet and ME busses pull up. Follow the sidewalk on past the visitors parking lot and you'll see the Hess at the end of the road. If I'm remembering correctly, we did have to cross over the Boardwalk "driveway" road to get to the Hess, but you won't have to cross the main road. :thumbsup2 It's maybe a 5 minute walk once you leave the Boardwalk lobby.

Well thank you Starshine! I will send my hubby on this very interesting treasure hunt. ;)
