It seems as though AK is the one park you can complete in one day so I guess it is better not to make it a visit over 2 days (1/2 day each) so as not to waste time on travel.
Which would be the best park to hop to after an AK visit..and at what time do you think a family of 5 (kids 8,7,5) would leave the park? Or do you think it is better just to stay and have dinner at rainforest?
Was thinking of going to MGM for a dinner and a few rides so as not to make that trip day overwhelming
Thanks

We're going to split our AK day with Epcot in September. The plan is to get to AK at opening, stay until mid-afternoon, have a late lunch at Rainforest on the way out of the park and then head over to Epcot. Since it will be a long day, the next day will be a low-key (probably no parks) day.

we go to am emh at ak, go on kali last. bus back to resort and then to another park, msot likely mgm.

We seem to end our AK day at Epcot for Illuminations. We usually do RFC for dinner on our way out of AK too!
::yes::

We usually go to AK at opening and stay about 1/2 hour after the parade, then we also hop over to Epcot. We tried MK once and it was so crowded it was overwhelming :earseek:

Sounds like Epcot would be the way to go..What time does Illuminations usually start and end??
We are not staying onsite so should we park at Epcot in the AM and if so, what transportation would you suggest to get us to AK (and at what time should we park to get to AK at opening?), I presume there is a way to do this as we certainly wouldn't want to go back to AK for the car.
This might work for us to get that done so that later in the week on our full Epcot day we don't have to stay till the end to see the show.
In addition, the day after we do AK and probably Epcot is our sleep in, hang by the pool so the kiddies are refreshed to go to LTT at 4:30 and then the Mickey Halloween party

We are going in September and our plan (kids 8,6,4) is to spend the day there and go the AKL for dinner at Boma's and make it our early night. It will be in the middle of the week, so I think the rest will be needed. The kids will enjoy seeing AKL too.

Most of the time, we wind up hopping to Epcot after AK. Sometimes we stay for the AK parade but sometimes we wind up leaving around 3:00-3:30. If you have the stamina (with the ages of your kids, I don't think this would work though), you could do AK on a day that Epcot has evening EMH. We did that last trip and had a great time, although it was a l-o-n-g day! We were at AK for opening & stayed til Epcot closed at midnight.

Well we did AK with MGM- AK was so hot that we didn't last long we used it as an opportunity to see the Lights Motors Action show(there is one at 3:55) With all the "shows" at MGM I find it to be a good break after AK. But I will add that we were exhausted..we drove to the EPCOT parking lot and then looked at each other and said no way.. the walk just seemed like too much that day after AK.

If you purchase parking at AK, the same parking pass will get you into Epcot. If you read the back of it, it says parking at all the parks on ONE day. I learned this the hard way –– paid for parking TWICE before I found this out.

Yep. If you are driving, I think parking at AK, then driving to Epcot or wherever else you go would be easier than having to use disney buses for two trips back and forth. And I'm not sure you could make it to AK by opening if you park at Epcot first.

It depends on how many days you have and how much you are packing in, but we also used AK as our "short" day. Stayed from open to close, then had dinner at Boma at 6pm and were back to our room by 8:30 or 9.
