I will be driving to Orlando the last of May for our spring trip to Disney. We will stay in two off site hotels before we check into our Disney hotel. After our
Disney visit my sons will be flying back home and I will remain in Florida with friends for the month of June. I will need to bring my laptop and printer/scanner with me because of an online class I will be teaching. That will make it necessary for me to leave the laptop in the car for at least one entire day. What can I do to protect my laptop from the heat? I thought about taking a cooler(no Ice) to leave the computer in during the times I will need to leave it in the car. Will that help protect the computer? Or do you have another suggestions?

Unless the cooler is cold, it won't help. I would leave the laptop in the trunk. Separate the battery from the laptop just in case. When you get to your hotel that night, I'd consider not even turning it on. Let it adjust to the A/C in the room and use it the next morning.

If you think about it, when they ship the laptops to stores, it's not like they're in air conditioned trucks. Who knows how long they're "baking" inside a semi trailer.

We used a 2 day cooler bag from Sams club, put the blue ice blocks in, layered card board over the ice and then put the laptop into the bag... always keeping the ice at the bottom. Wrap the laptop in a towel and then wrap it in a trash bag.... take the battery out but keep it cool in the same bag. It stayed cool for an entire day. Have a great trip! My son loves his on-line professors!

You don't specify what "day" in the trip you'll need to leave your laptop. However if it is on or near a hotel stay (Disney or non-Disney), you may be able to leave it in the hotel safe at the check-in counter. can't hurt to ask, and even if it is part of the day 9especially the afternoon, it won't be in the heat.

Good idea, but we are driving down on a Sunday, May 26 and spending the day at the beach with friends on, Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. It will be that Monday that I am worried about. Tuesday we check into our resort at Disney.

I really didn't want to go by my friends home just to drop off my stuff, but it's looking like that may be the best thing to do. Since I'm staying for a month I will have more stuff than usual and I really don't want to be tripping over it while I'm at Disney. I still may pack my laptop in a cooler with some sort of coolant on the trip down just for safe keeping.
