I just want to make sure I'm headed in the right direction. If I get there at 9 AM for a 10 AM opening, and there is EMH for DLR guests (we are staying offsite) where would be the best place to line up? Where to I head after I'm through the gates? My family will be making their way to RSR single rider line or possibly TSMM (we haven't decided the best course of action yet) while I wait for RSR FP.

Help would be appreciated!

Other folks with direct experience will probably post, but keep in mind they won't hand out FP until the park opens, so there's really no point in you going and getting in line at 9 AM -- the FP will run out within two hours of park opening, so it's very unlikely that you'd be able to somehow get two FP.

If the park opens at 10 AM, and you have EMH starting at 9 AM, I'd arrive at the main gate by 8:45. Go straight to RSR, ride it as a group, consider riding it single rider as well and/or sending some folks over to TSMM or possibly riding Luigi's, and head over to the FP line around 9:40ish. All the EMH folks are in a separate line that moves forward to get FP at 10 AM sharp, you'll have your FP by 10:10 or so, and that'll be that.

We DON'T have EMH. We aren't staying onsite.

Just got back--RSR and FP for it is still NUTS!!
If (and that was a big IF for us this past week) RSR is actually operating at park opening (when you are allowed in) go in and immediately head left towards the Carthay Circle restaurant where there will be a HUGE long FP line....(there are little signs and CM's all along the line directing you).
You will have to wait a while to get your FP's, but at least you'll get them (probably)...the rest of your family might want to head over to TSMM and get in that line...you may or may not be able to catch up with them after you get your fp's...(depends on how long the TSM line is...)

We actually got to ride RSR 3 times during our 2 days at DCA, and 2 of the times were because the ride had been broken down and the line was emptied out...and we just happened to walk past RSR when it was just getting ready to re-open...so we walked in with a mob of people and were among the 1st 100 or so people in the standby line...so we had less than 20 min. wait both times. The night we actually went back on FP's was our longest wait!! The ride had been shut down sooo much that there were tons of FP people all trying to use their FP's at the same time once RSR actually started running again. (It rained so that made it shut down at least twice while we were there...)

Good luck...it's awesome....!! Hope you get on...but don't be surprised if it's not running...

DisneyJuliez: you must have been tried riding it on Thursday like we did. We were in line before the gates opened and it was raining. I told people that it may not be running first thing because of the rain and they thought I was trying to get them out of line...definitely not the case.

I was being realistic especially when roads are slippery when wet.

mmlover74: yes, we were standing in line at the gates in the rain Thursday morning too! I just knew inmy gut that it wouldn't be running at opening, (based on Test Track at DW experience) so we pretty much decided that we'd head to TSMM immediately and just keep our eyes open for it to start running again once the rain stopped and the sun started shining again! :-)
We got very, very lucky!! :-) It was purely lucky timing...

I stood in line for FP so we could use later (hopeful at that time) and my family went over to Soarin, but that was down, so they went to TSMM. I just feel that it is common sense that it would not go.

We had decent times (11:35-12:35), but rode at night to experience it then with all the lights on.

I think it was Disney magic for you.

Agreed! Disney Magic was sprinkled on us for sure... :-)

And congrats on getting to open DL on Weds! How exciting!!

They don't start the fastpass machines until regular park opening. However, if there is early opening, you can get in the fastpass line early. We went to RSR at early opening and rode it in single rider, rode Luigis and Maters and then got in the fastpass line 15 or 20 minutes before park opening. By then it was close to the Carthay theater. They had started letting the regular guests in and there was a rope by the theater holding them back, there was also a separate fastpass line for RSR starting by the theater.
