Where to go to get a deal.....

Where do you suggest going to get a deal on a Vegas vacation? I've been looking at expedia.com and hotels.com and orbits.com (which was about $200 over the first two) and I'm wondering if I'm getting the best together deal there (hotel and flight together). What about AAA - do they have good deals? We no longer have a membership with them, but I need to renew, so this would be a great reason to ;)

Any other ideas as to where to go for together packages? We really want to stay at Paris.

TIA :flower3:

Honestly, we do Vegas every Labor Day (but not this year... :sad1:) and IMO, your cheapest bet is to do everything separate.

We first go online to the website of the hotel we plan on staying at, and look for deals. There are ALWAYS deals... sometimes it is for cheaper hotel rates, but it is worth it even if it is just 2 for 1 buffets, free pool drinks, etc., and then we CALL the 1-800 number for the hotel we plan on staying at. They almost ALWAYS give you a reduced rate if you call as opposed to just booking on the website. You can also ask if there are special rates for nicer rooms. (We were once offered a mini-suite for $100 more total!)

(Once you get there, if they don't offer on the phone, ask for a room upgrade. They will sometimes give it to you for free, sometimes for $100 or so more... depending on your stay length.)

As for airfare, just keep looking. When you find something cheap, get it!

We did a package with AAA once, and it was the most expensive trip we took. We didn't get any extras, and we spent about $300 more than we did doing it on our own the following year.

I found my dad a great deal using bookingbuddy.com. They are a search engine that searches all the major dealers without having to re-enter all the information. I found Circus Circus for 9 nights with flights for $625. He was happy with that.

I would also consider booking things separately. Have you tried calling Paris directly to see what kind of a deal you could get? I'm signed up through my players cards to get promotions and I've been getting emails with crazy cheap room deals so I think the casinos/hotels are begging for business.

We are going in October and staying at the Venetian but I just got an email for Mandalay for $35 a night!

And I second checking Southwest's flights/rates. They are usually the most competitive.

If you travel a lot there is a travel club called clubABCtravel tours that usually has really good deals to Vegas. You pay for a membership ($40 for one year or they have other packages) and then they send you books with all their tours about 6 times a year. I've used them for many years now and we've always gotten really good hotels and tours. I did Vegas twice through them.

When are you going?

My MIL stayed at Paris and was offered a free mountain view suite upon check-in.

I agree w/ the previous poster who said to book separately. Also, book directly through the hotel. If you find a cheaper rate or code, you can call back and either cancel & rebook for no fee or they can adjust your rate right there. I am headed to Vegas in Sept & have rebooked 3 times already after finding better deals. Here are some websites to check out deals:

fatwallet.com
smartervegas.com
vegaspromoguide.com

Also, tripadvisor.com has a great forum that is very active. Most deals are posted there. I found that the best deals for the hotels are usually 1-2 months before you travel.

Good luck!

Well I just looked at Southwest and OMG!!!! The prices to fly alone were WAY more than booking everything (flight and hotel) with expedia!! Maybe its because its a far flight - I'd have to go out of Laguardia (don't want to do that either, would rather go out of either Newark or Atlantic City) and the times stunk. Oh well, gona keep searching!! I can't book anything right now anyway because its a year out! What can I say, I like to plan ahead!!!!!!!

Just to add...

I have found that if you ask, in Vegas, you will receive. It NEVER hurts to ask.

Last flight of the night and a Red-Eye coming home will be cheapest.

Less people book those.

Try Spirit Airlines or NWA. I have found that to Vegas, SWA can be expensive. IF you can fly Allegiant, it should be CHEAPEST... LAS is one of their bases!
