Problem is, it seems like this quilt set never even existed at Target. I can't find it ANYWHERE online, including ebay. I was hoping to find the accent pieces for it. So now I have to get creative and find tropical/luau/surfing/Hawaii type things to decorate! Any suggestions anyone?
Try looking at the bath sections of Target,
Walmart, & Bed, bath & Beyond. I think they have beach or flowers. You can probably find a trashcan that would work.
You can buy at Home Depot paintable outlet covers and light switches, so you can design your own.
If you can't find a trash can that will work, you can use a sharpie and design your own. Trace a flower from the sheets in pencil, then color it in. I did this for DD's old room. She had a jungle theme and I had colored the trashcan & ceiling fan blades with zebra stripes. I bought a stencil from Michael's and just stared at it as I went along. You can find Hawaiian stencils also, so that is another idea for you.
If anyone is going to try the color block here is what I learned. It really does look good, but it is A LOT of work. (but I'd do it again if she asked) What took the longest was the measuring and I still managed to mess it up! Be sure to measure from the top of the baseboard not the floor. DD's wall has 8 spaces and the middle strip is in the middle. They are off by an 1" or so, but not enough to tell on the sides.
Once the blue tape is put down, I went over it with an old gift card to smooth it down. Then I took a foam brush and painted on a coat of wood sealer. That wall alone took several days to complete since I had to tape off the stripes to paint white, then sealer, then white paint, then remove the tape, then retape for the walls, add more sealer, and finally add the colors, but not all at once.
While removing the tape, I found the best way to pull the tape so it was almost flat against the wall. So pull it down, then back, so it is almost on top of itself. Pull slowly and have an exacto knife handy. I didn't have any issues with the paint bleeding, but had to touch up where the tape ripped off a small piece of the colored paint. I did those with a small paintbrush.
Hope this helps someone.
