My DD wants to re-do her bedroom for Christmas - color on the walls she wants is Neon Green, :confused3 yep - she absolutely loves that color but I can't seem to be able to find any bed sets that would compliment - if anyone knows where I could find one for a reasonale price - please let me know.

She also wants a loft style bed which my DH is actually building for her - I'll post photos when it's all complete!

Thx

My 10 yr old DD has lime green and bright purple on her walls. I was not too sure of it at first, but now I really like the colors, really cheerful. We got her bedding at WalMart. She got the comforter that is white with purple and pink polka dots, I think it was about $29. They have several different styles for tweens.
Hope this helps! :)

Wal Mart and Target are THE places to find bedding sets in great, kid colors.

A loft bed? Awesome! My DD had one up until we moved last year. It was great. Underneath, we had a rack for her extra clothes, a storage/toy box and a small toy shelf. Very space saving.

I would love to have a new loft built for her ---- maybe not as high as the one she previously had. I like the one they have on Drake & Josh. It's low enough and it has built in bookshelves, etc.

I saw something of a lime green/tourquoise big polka dot one at Target the other day?

Caution on the loft bed- watch if you don't have real high ceilings. Maybe not so much as issue with girls, but we got DS 13 one a couple years ago. He's shot up in the past year and couldn't sit upright in bed, lol. It won't fit in DD's room, so it's disassembled in our living room til I can find someone to buy it. AHH!

We did our DS room for his B-day in July and I got a good deal at Macys. I know they had a cute neon green and blue set too. I thought it was cute, but too girly for him and wouldnt go with his room. We got him the navy blue/maroon. It is nice cause these comforters are reversable, it came with the sheets, pillow case, sham, and comforter. Reg around$100 and we got it for like $25 from the sale they were running. Ide just keep an eye out. We have gotten bed sets from places like wal mart and they just fall apart after a wash or two, and outs from places like Macys are holding strong. GL!

Oh, also MIL did a room up for our DD when she stays there and they painted one wall neon green and one 2 purple and one is done in the chalkboard paint. They did some butterflies, rainbow, and other stencil/sponges and it looks real cute. Took some toil (i think thats what it is called) and twisted them around the curtain rod and let them dangle down in the colors the room was painted, looks good.

I agree with Target and JCPenney. I just wanted to add that this would be a great time to buy a set since all the college dorm stuff is out in stores (Target, WM, BB&B) etc... I picked up a few things for my tween daughter for Christmas for her room that was marketed towards kids going away to college.

Dd14 painted her room lime green when we moved into this house 3 years ago (yes, she and her friends painted it before the carpeting was put in!). She chose green and blues for her bedding---we had found some striped green sheets, solid green sheets, and a great blue (one shade per side) comforter. It works. She's painted family hand-me-down furniture glossy black and added bright colored dot stickers to some pieces.

We found the bedding at the now-departed LinensNThings but I've seen similar at BedBath&Beyond. Their coupons are handy.

We have purple walls in DD's room and bright green accessories and it looks really good. We found a white quilt with purple and green pompoms at Target and she's using that right now, it looks really good.

we are redoing DD's room for Christmas as well. I found soem great tween bedding at Kohls. i got a whole bed set for $48! (comforter, sheets, bed skirt, sham and pillow case). This is the set (looks like only king is available? http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/bed...l/PRD~c16728/The+Big+One+PolkaDot+Bed+Set.jsp

but they ahve a cute striped set.

Regarding the neon green. you should not be afraid of it. I know it will look awesome. 6 years ago when DH and I bought our house i painted our living room neon green (it's actually called grass but it's VERY bright). we always get compliments on it. All of our furniture is neutral (light light tan) and brown is the accent color (darker woods, brown curtains etc). it looks stunning.

getting back to my DD's room. She is looking to do 1 wall in her room neon green but with neon green FUR. Yes i said fur. well stuffed animal fur. not real fur found on animals. i am pretty excited about how its going to come out.

currently i am looking for a smallish (but not kid sized) chair that i can use for her room. i will have my freind reapholster it in a bright turquoise. similar to this: http://www.target.com/Kids-Polka-Do...et&field-browse=1038614&rh=k:polka dot&page=1

i'm hoping to find something at goodwill for $20-$50.

good luck.

Thanks so much for all the great ideas. You're the best :lovestruc!

I'm sure that I'll get used to having that color in her room. I'm just hoping that she won't get tired of it a couple of months after the room gets done  since I'm sure my DH is not going to want to paint the room over for a while. She absolutely loves that color to the point that she even has her nails painted that green and is a little upset that she'll have to take the polish off for the cheer competitions :rotfl:

Also, if there is a fear that she will out grow the green (because 11 year olds NEVER out grown their likes and dislikes :)). what about not painting all of the walls?

Since my DD (11) is getting the neon green fur (which matches my living room to a T). we are only doing 1 wall. the rest of the walls will be white. we will play up the colors with the bedspread, chair, fur wall and drapes. under the fur will be white so when and if the time comes and she doesn't like the fur anymore then i can jsut take the fur off!

Although Pottery Barn can be pricy, you might want to check out the PBTeen website for ideas or inspiration and also check out their sale bedding.

You can also sometimes get good deals on bedding at Domestications.

I also agree with everyone who has recommended Target - especially once all of the "dorm room" stuff goes on sale.

If you've got an Ikea local to you, you might also check out their duvet covers and just cover up the comforter your daughter already has. They tend to have bedding in bright, fun colors.

Target, JC Penney and PB Teen. PB Teen is not exactly budget, but the quality is good. Look for something with just a little green to not overwhelm the room and to hopefully outlast her growing out of green.

DD15 has her room, bright, put sunglasses on, hot pink. She still loves it 3 yrs later. We got the Miss set from JCP w/the black/polka dots and white/stripes on the other. It looks really cute and I like that the 2 sides can change the look of the room. The polka dots allow any other color to be an accent and it all works together. All her furniture is light wood & accents are bright green & blue.

There are also cute sets at Kohls, Target, etc. as others have said.

DD12 has her room done in lime green and turquios. Her bedding came from IKEA and was quite reasonable. Her comforter has big squares in two shades of blue (navy and turqious) as well as lime green. She has a loft bed with a "sitting area" underneath it. We were able to get her a lime green sahg style rug for underneath as well as a lime green rocking style fabirc on metal frame style chair and small (lime green again) table to sit by it. All from iKEA and all on sale pretty inexpensivly. I think they carry the exact same peices in the states, if you ahve one nearby.

My DD11 just had her room redone in "Tink Green" from the Disney line with Behr at Home Depot. She loves the neon just as much! Nails too...

It wakes you right up when you walk in. :lmao: Actually when we first painted it and the room was still empty you could see it actually glow on the tile entry from under the door when it was shut. It looks really cute now though with all her stuff in it.

I found her bedding set at Target and it's got mostly blue's with purple and lime green hollowed out, funky shaped squares all over it (comforter, shams & bed skirt). It looks really cute and picks up the green nicely since it's not the main color of the bedding and doesn't add to the shocking'ness of the room.

Have fun and good luck!!

I just finished painting DD's (12) room. One wall is purple, one is lemon-lime, one is aqua blue and the last one is a colorblock of all of the colors.

I found her quilt at Penny's. It is now at their outlet stores. She wanted the quilt with the pink & orange in it, so I used those colors as accents so they blend in.

Her sheets and cover (actually long curtains on a rod. We removed the 1970's sliding doors) for her closet came from Walmart. Not all stores sell the teen zone line, so check online to see it. They have it in neon colors. Her floor lamp, rugs, ottermans, and nightstand lamp came from Walmart also. Walmart also has milk crates for the college/back to school stuff that is neon.

I can post a picture if you want to see some of the stuff.

I would love to see some pictures.

I'm so glad that she's not the only 11/12 year old that likes that color. I think that we found one that she likes at JCP and I found some bins to store stuff at FiveBelow that will work - now it's just a matter of keeping everything hidden until Christmas. I want the comforter & accessories to be a surprise. My DH said that he's going to wear sunglasses when he paints the room :lmao:
