Where to find real coffee?

Okay... my father, 1/4 of our traditional WDW gang, has a *thing* about that Nescafe-liquid-concentrate stuff they try and pass off as coffee in most places around the World. In fact, "nescafe" has actually become an interjection/curse word in our little group. "Yeah, well nescafe to you!" :teeth:

He has already started his rant about it, and we're still months away from going. To help save the sanity for the rest of us, can you brilliant DIS pals tell me some places we can find my Dear Dad some real coffee? The only place I know of for sure is Kona Cafe. We're staying at CBR, and will be doing MK, MGM, and mostly Epcot.

Thanks in advance!! :)

Hi Gina,

I was in Disney in 2003 and loved the coffee but...

Try the Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney. This is the former Gourmet Pantry and they had fresh ground coffee every day...regular and flavored. I have not been there since they changed it but I did work at the GP when I was on the college program and loved the coffee. Maybe call in advance.

All the best to you; have a wonderful trip!

I LOVE IT!!!! Jeesh, I miss my coffee while at WDW. I will tell you that they had the best coffee at both Boma (we don't like that place too much) and Jiko (LOVE this place). It was a pressed pot of coffee. Nice and strong, plenty of flavor!

As far as around the parks, MGM has a little coffee shop that sells lattes and stuff. Go in and by him an expresso or latte and don't tell him. Say its just a good ol' cup of Joe!

I will often race over to the HESS Station or the Mickey D's near AS resorts

Sounds great! Unfortunately, we never have time for DTD. :(

Maybe we can find time to go over to AKL, then. Maybe the MGM coffee shop has real coffee too? Unfortunately, the trick you mentioned probably wouldn't work -- we're 100% Italian and have grown up with espresso and latte and coffee since birth. He would know the difference. LOL But it was a good thought! :)

Thanks for the replies, you guys! He swears that while looking through Epcot dinner menus at Deb's site, he saw Starbucks mentioned...

We love WDW but really don't like the coffee. I don't know if CBR has coffee makers but the WL does, so this last trip, we brought along our own coffee and 4-cup filters. We also bought a pack of cardboard travel cups with lids (they were really sturdy and insulated) at an office supply store.
Then, from gardengrocer, we ordered coffee cream and a few half gallon jugs of spring water (I don't like the taste of the tap water either). We kept the cream in our fridge. It worked out really well. Sometimes, we would buy a cup of coffee later in the day but we could always count on one at least one good cup every morning, then toss the travel cups without having to worry about our WL mugs. We will definitely plan on doing this again next trip.

are there coffeemakers in the rooms at pofq? THAT would be awesome! DH and i could have our usual strong morning sludge :thumbsup2

The area just outside Kona Cafe where they sell muffins and cookies and such had wonderful coffee.

There isn't a Starbucks inside any of the parks, but if you can get over to the Dolphin or Swan ( can't remember which) they serve Starbucks. Also the kiosk outside of the Kona Cafe at the Poly serves very good coffee. We are coffee crazy too and always searching for a good cup of joe.

We stayed at CBR in May and it came with a coffee maker. However, I usually travel with my 4 cup coffee maker and my own beans. This way I can enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee before everyone else is up and about. :cloud9: If you wanted it to go, most office supply stores carry the heavy duty paper cups and plastic lids for easy disposal.

Thanks for the replies! I'm compiling all of them for my dad. :) I didn't know that CBR had a coffee-maker, but I checked and sure enough we'll have one in-room! But I know he likes to have a good cup of coffee while out and about, so the list of other places to go helps a bunch.

Keep 'em coming, if anyone knows of any others! Anyplace specifically in the parks (aside from AKL) would be a great help. :)

Is there a rule about bringing your own coffee pot to POP? We're driving down so it would be SO easy. I'd miss my Folgers Chocolate Silk. :sad2:

Another place is at Epcot, in front of the Ellen Degeneres ride and the entrance to the countries there are 2 coffee carts....best coffee, mocha, cappuccino and espresso ever

Inside the Contemporary, the lobby level, there's a bar area between check in and the elevators, pretty good coffee!!! not sure of the name.

Yes!!! I made it every morning last year and even grabbbed lids from the food court to take it on the morning bus with me. The lady at the food court was really nice about me getting lids every day. It was great!!!! :surfweb:

I brought my own coffee maker down when we stayed at ASSports in June...no problem! :cool1:

Ah... no way would I drive a car on vacation. LOL I'd just stay home if I wanted that hassle. :) I'm just looking for coffee spots at the parks, mostly! But thanks anyway. :)

To the OP,
Just before our Spring Break trip, they added fridges and coffee makers to the standard items in a Mod room. So your resort room should have a coffee maker. BUT you'd better bring your own coffee because that stuff they provide is that new curse word your family came up with. ;)
Also they are 4 cup coffee makers and the packaged stuff they call coffee is in a packet, no filters. You'd have to bring the coffee and the filters. It may be easier than actually trying to find decent coffee at WDW.
