I want to iron-on a few t-shirts for my upcoming trip. Where can I find nice, but inexpensive plain adult sized t-shirts? I was at Michael's and they had them for $4 each. Is that about right?

Also, I'm having a hard time finding the iron-on sheets you can print on a computer. I found some at Staples, but they were $13 a package and my local Michael's were $10 a package. Did not see any at my local Staples. Is there anywhere else I can find these?

The places I look for plain T's are HobbyLobby, Michaels,JoAnn fabrics, Target, WalMart, and maybe Kohls or Pennys. I don't know that any are of high quality, like, Eddie Bauer etc? $4 is pretty fair, you may find a sale for $3, but 4 is not bad for a T-shirt. As far as the Iron on transfers, again, HobbyLobby, Walmart, but $10 is a decent price.

I always get my shirts at jiffyshirts.com.

The good iron-ons for dark colors are expensive.
I haven't found them cheaper than Walmart...

Watch the ads for Michael's, I've picked up the t's for $2 each.

As for the iron ons, I've bought from Sam's. My mother in law bought the Hanes one, the colors bled when we printed on it. I've used the Avery, didn't have that problem at all.

Also, when I did ours, I used one sheet for two. I copied the picture and pasted on the bottom half, did the print preview to make sure it would all fit and then printed. I bought them a year ago, don't remember what I paid but I made 10 t-shirts and I still have papers left.

OP if you have not been to the "creative disign" area of the the disboards.com (almost at the bottom of the forums), there is information there about different tshirts/transfer papers, even instructions for the best way to do this for those like me that are challenged in that area:) Great disigns to use as well, very talented people there. Have a great trip.

Also check Old Navy. They have V and scoopneck for $5.

edited to add- had a bad experience with Mike's iron ons peeling. I think it was Wilton brand. I like these at Walmart:

I just bought t-shirts at Michael's last night for $2 each! :cool1: They are on sale this week. I am actually starting my t-shirts and I bought transfers from Amy Mickey. She's on the Creative Disign boards. Just google her name and you can find her website. Anyway I used the transfers for the first time for my DD's birthday and they are amazing! So easy and no cracks! She ships them right away, too. Good luck!

I think Michael's had a coupon in Sunday's paper for 50% off an item. Not sure if it had any limitations. That would bring that iron paper price down!

The craft stores like Joanne's, Michaels, and AC Moore have those t-shirts on sale regularly for $2 or $2.50 and they have coupons in the paper every week at this time of the year. (Ask your neighbors for theirs) If you sign up for their mailing list, those stores send coupons via email and to your house as well.

Check the shirts (or try them on) before you buy - some of them have very high necklines that get irritating in the heat. You also want to make sure they're clean - sometimes they fall to the floor and get stepped on, but end up back on the shelf. The shirt should be mostly cotton for the transfer to stick. Pre-wash them with no fabric softener before you do the transfer.

I've used the Avery brand iron-ons, both the light- and dark-colored versions, and they're better than the store brand. The Staples-brand sheets weren't good - the transfer cracked and peeled after the first or second washing.

I just bought plain T's as Michaels for $2 each yesterday. I had to hunt down a 2XL but finally found it. A friend's hubby doesn't like the XL because it hugs his middle too much ;) SO I had to hunt down the 2XL.

I find teh Micheal's ones run a tad bit small. I had to buy am XL for my fiance who normally wears a large.

I think I was at dollar tree the other day and they had the exact same ones they sell at michaels for $1. I know they have a website, check on that.

We order through Jiffyshirts. We are a big family and I always have trouble finding everyone's size in a store.

They are very courtesy, cheap and super fast shipping. :thumbsup2
