While I realize that DL's food plan is not at all like the WDW's DDP, I am interested in looking into it but could not find it at the DL website. I wanted to know the cost pp and what is included. Can someone help me?

Thanks!

For some reason, it's really hard to find this on the Disneyland website. I'll try to link to it but if the link doesn't work, go to the home page at Disneyland.com and plug in some dates for "hotel/ticket reservations." After you enter those, you'll get a page that asks which hotel you want and how many days in the park etc. There is a thing that asks if you want a dining plan and dining plan is a link, so click it and you'll see the prices and how it works.

I see that link didn't work, so I'm going to try to paste in the information from the site:

From Dis knowledge...the vouchers do not get change back. So if you buy a $3.00 water with a $5 voucher, you will lose $2. If you buy two waters for $6 and use a $5 voucher, you will have to give $1 of your cash to make up the difference. Etc, and so on.

It's been best described as a way to pre-pay most of your food, and that works for some people. For others...not so much (me, for instance). :)

Hope that extra bit helps!

I have to agree with Bumbershoot--to me, the dining plan is more trouble than it's worth. I have a friend who loves it, but I don't care for it myself. I wouldn't mind if it saved you any money, but it doesn't. It's just the convenience of having it paid for before you leave. I've read others' reports of using Disney Dollars in the same way, which makes more sense to me if you have a Disney store nearby. You can just periodically get Disney dollars and then have them for your trip. I, myself, use dh's credit card/cash :thumbsup2

We just got our vouchers and the must've increased the snack 'cause the voucher is now worth $6.50...or has disney food prices gone up???

I think Disney food prices have gone up! At least, I know they raised the prices on the character meals and certain other items, so it wouldn't surprise me to find that they raised prices across the board.

It looks to me like the vouchers really don't save any money -- so they are basically just a convenience?

That's my opinion of it.

I remember when planning, I added up the total cost you pay, and the vouchers, and with the exception of the character meal, where it depended on what you chose, it's pretty much $1 paid for $1 in voucher/credit.

so it works in down town disney too? like rain forest cafe?

Sorry, but I've heard on here that the vouchers don't work for DTD restaurants or food places.

Hmm. Odd. It does state
Whether dining in Disneyland® Park, Disney's California Adventure® Park, Downtown Disney® , or one of the three Hotels of the Disneyland® Resort, Guests will find a variety of dining choices around every corner!
. :confused3

Of course, they do not state that you can use vouchers there, just that DTD has dining choices. And it does.

http://www.disneymouselinks.com/disney-dining-plan.aspx:

Since the vouchers are not good at Downtown Disney, you also need to consider where you plan on eating before purchasing one of the Dining Plans. If you will strictly be eating at Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure, or eating at many character meals, this may be a good plan for you.

The 0nly reason I have gotten the vouchers since the change where you dont save any money is that I used it when I changed my existing reservation. I had a ressy for October before the 4th night free promotion...they charge $25 if your price goes down so I "added" the meal plan and it ended up virtually the same price as my original reservation and i saved the $25 change fee since my total package didn't decrease :)

I would probably only get the plan if it saved me money. Since pre-paying for meals isn't really that big of a concern for us. Even then I'd probably only do it for the shortest amount of days they allow. Since I love eating offsite and in DTD so much.

I can't justify the costs, since we save so much eating offsite for many of our meals. Not to mention the variety.
