My brother always goes to WDW with us but I usually have his caregiver with us to help when we go out without him. I have family to help some but I really need a in room caregiver to help a few days so I can spend sometime with my grandchildren at the water parks. Does anyone know of a good person that I can trust with Ricky for a few days while we vacation? Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

Unfortunately the question you asked is too general to give a reasonable answer. A few questions which would help to give you the advice he needs.

How old is he?

Is the disability physical (if so, what) or is it mental. What restrictions does he have, and/or what are his needs or capabilities?

You would have the choice of hiring a caregiver to come on the trip with you, or there are services here which may be able to assist.

Does he have a caregiver paid for by the state or do you pay OOP? If he has an agency that sends a caregiver, perhaps they can network with agencies here in Florida that do the same. Other than that I would do a search of local (close to WDW) home care agencies to see if they can provide what you are looking for.

Ricky is 59 and is mentally retarded and has some cerebral palsy. He need someone to help with bathroom duty and to fix his food. He is more like a 3 or 4 year old but understands what you tell him. He can't talk except yes and no. We don't really need anyone with special training, more just a sitter. Thanks for your replies.

If you are looking for a sitter for the room one night while you go out? That is the way that I read this. I think I saw on the Fairy Godmothers or (MAYBE Kids Nite Out) website that they will take care of people with special needs. I hope this helps. I have a special needs brother too. I love him more than life itself, but I would need a break of he and I were at Disney World together too!!
