I was wondering where I might find a comparison of the 3 Universal Resorts? I've read the general info. on the link from the DIS home page, but am looking for more specifics. TIA & Happy New Year!

Thanks so much! I had done so much searching & reading that my mind must have gone numb. It never occured to me to check the official Universal site  .

I'm also planning a stay at Universal. Which hotel is best for kids? How close to the parks are the hotels? Can you walk to the theme parks, etc..? Is one hotel closer or easier access to the US and IOA? :flower:

We stayed at the HRH & could walk to both UO & IOA. HRH was closer to US than IOA, but the walk was not bad to either (maybe 10-15). I think RPR is closer to IOA & PBH is the furthest from UO & IOA. All the resorts offer a free boat ride, which lets you off right near UO, but it was faster for us to walk than to take the boat. I think the resorts also offer a free shuttle, but we never used that, so I'm not 100% sure.

My 2 boys (7 & 11) really liked the HRH, but we've never stayed at any of the other resorts, so I can't really compare them.

Happy planning!

I see that you have stayed at a lot of disney resorts. So when thinking of which universal resort to stay in...Royal Pacific which is universals "value" resort is comparable to a Disney deluxe resort for much much less money. Have never stayed at Hard Rock Hotel..lol, too noisy for me. Portofino resort is a deluxe resort far superior to disneys Grand Floridian. Yes, I have stayed at all the resorts I am using for comparisons, and we love disney and universal for different reasons. Hope this helps you choose your universal resort. Enjoy!

I've stayed at the HRH (2 years ago) and recently the RPR (July).
The HRH is closer to the parks, only takes about 5 minutes on a walking path which leads to USF. The RPR is about a 7 minute walk, and you come out at Margaritaville in front of IOA.
Pools - RPR has a volleyball net, and 2 basketball hoops, plus games off to the side. HRH has music in the pool (it sounds ok), and a bunch of nerf balls flying back and forth, plus the slide.

Prices at the HRH have been going up. The hotel seems to be booked solid at peak times. If you can get a good rate, then do it now, and then visit the RPR on your next trip.

Both hotels are worth the visit. I can't really pick a winner, we had a great time at both.

there is a bus shuttle for all the parks.

even though i stayed at hrh and it was a 4 minute walk from US, i took the bus for the adventure of it.

the bus goes from the park to all three hotels. i did it in the day time and late evening just to see the differences and how lite up the areas are to the hotels.

the water shuttle is very convenient.
walking from hrh is very short, a bit longer from rph to US but closer to ioa.
pbh has a longer walk than rph by about 3-4minutes.

Have stayed at the HRH 2x and going for my third in Oct. I usually stay about 2 nights, but this time 6 days. I have wanted to go to HHN for years, so bit the bullet. Please be aware HRH is expensive. When I go to Disney, I like CBR, stayed there my last two trips. HRH is almost three time the cost if you stay at club level, about twice the price for a regular room.

Depending on how old the kids are, If $$ allows, I say stay at HRH, I love it!!

depending on the discount/(garden view) you are using it can run from under $200 to $224 a night. the club was at $299 when i booked.
