Where to find a cover for the Kindle?

I check on Amazon and the covers are $30-40! I don't want to spend that much on a cover. Has anyone bought a cover for the Kindle some place other than Amazon? What should I look for in a cover so it will protect it?
Thanks! :)

I bought my Kindle Fire cover at Best Buy. They had all M-Edge covers 50% off on BF. It is leather and has a soft microsuede interior.

I have also seen other Kindle covers at Best Buy, Staples, and Target.

There are lots of cheaper ones at amazon too. I have seen some for 10-15 dollars, although I'm sure the more expensive ones are better quality. But, yes, as PP stated they are available at most retailers that sell electronics also. The price probably won't be much better. You can also check ebay.

You could always buy screen protectors from Walmart (static cling E-reader ones) and you can buy a netbook or ipad neoprene cover. Would run you about 20 bucks at the most.

I found a $10 sleeve at Walmart for mine. I want a case, but wanted something to protect it until I can find a case/cover I like. They didn't have many to choose from at Target.

I really like my K3 M-edge cover. We found it at Best Buy and it cost around $25. DD's case comes from ebay, think it was less than $10 even with shipping. I found a case for my Fire on Amazon for $10; I don't love it so I think I'll be looking at Oberon, but those are waaaaaay more than $25. :rolleyes1

Target has them - I actually found mine at Barnes and Noble. It's designed for the Nook but it fits Kindle and I fell like mine is more secure than the Kindle one.

i got mine at target. it was re-packaged (someone had opened it and the outside sleeve was gone). it was leather and still in mint condition, it saved me almost $10 off the $35 price tag. i had shopped around but the cheaper cases did not function the same way. i read mine on the subway standing sometimes or on the bus standing so i needed a case that was sturdy, this had metal hooks that latch into the kindle so it cant slip out. if you shop at target frequently you may want to keep your eye out on the electronics clearance b/c that is where i found my case.

I have a neoprene sleeve that I really dislike. About a month ago, one of the special offers on my Kindle was 50% off Kindle cases at Amazon. I bought myself a lighted case from Amazon and it's wrapped and under the tree. I just want my Kindle to feel more like a book. Holding just the Kindle is strange to me. The neoprene sleeve is OK, I just don't feel it's substantial enough to really protect the Kindle.

I got a cover for Dh's Kindle on Overstock.com. I paid around $6 for it and he likes it.

I follow www.lifefabuless.com on FB. She posted this:

Just got my Kindle Fire case in the mail-- canNOT believe this 3-in-1 case is ONLY $6.95 shipped-- seriously, it's GORGEOUS and I love how securely it holds the Fire inside! http://amzn.to/rzG0CA

Thanks for the info! My husband surprised me with a Kindle Fire for my birthday a few days ago. I bought a cheap sleeve until I could find something else I liked, and that was priced right.

To be fair, the $50 ones that plug into your Kindle and provide a reading light are really really nice. I have a red one for my Kindle keyboard from last year. It's nice sturdy leather and it's convenient to have the light handy whenever I want it. It's a nice slim design too, rather than having a big bulky light out the back with a separate battery to charge and such.

That being said if you don't want the light, just go with whatever PP's have said that is cute and cheap. ;)

over at kindleboards.com they have some really creative people - some make covers from household items - they cut a plastic folder to fit - and I think someone used a USPS bubble wrapped mailer for protection -

now for me? Instead of spending $$$ on books - I put it into a cover - a leather Oberon cover - and I love it, I love that smell, the feel, and I love the artistry of the cover :goodvibes

I also bought a purse that fit my kindle/cover in (it is a fossil purse they used it in the Kindle commercial!) DD uses a hipster coach bag to fit hers in...

Tbh, the MEdge ones are worth the money. They have tabs that slide into the side of the Kindle where the slots are and have elastic bands on the othe sides edges. I have two of them and admit paying close to $40 each. I also have one from Halsea for m edge, pleased with it as well. I'd be careful with ones not designed for the Kindle as they could allow it to fall out and break. My Kindle 3G is a 2nd generation and looks brand new thanks to the MEdge cases I use. I tried a neoprene sleeve when I first got it, along with a Vera Bradley cosmetic bag (back before the designers figured out that there was money to be made in these specialty cases ;)) and the device slipped around too much. Just my two cents.

I agree with the above poster - the MEdge covers are very well worth the money and their customer service folks are fabulous! They have sales often so join their email list and LIKE them on Facebook.

You can find some adorable Kindle covers on Etsy. I got one from there before I got my MEdge covers.
