We have gone to the MNSSHP for the last 4 years. PRetty much anywhere is acceptable if you dress up. However, we usually just do counter service that day. Its much easier. However we've done Liberty Tree Tavern and that was great too.
We have an adr for crystal palace for 5:50....we will have enough time to eat, have some fun with some characters and then just as we are finishing the party should be kicking off.
Last year we had a super great time at MNSSHP! We wanted to have a nice meal before the party and all the activities. We made an ADR for Liberty Tree Tavern. So many people where dressed up and we all had fun.
They only stay open until about a half hour before the party starts. However they do not rush you. We enjoyed a nice sit down meal as a family all dressed up before the party. It is great being in the park prior to the party starting, you don't have the crowds waiting for security checks and people milling around who are being ask to exit the park since they do not have tickets for the party.
We're doing Crystal Palace for a late lunch this year, and then we'll pick up something light later at a CS. Last year we did Wolfgang Puck's for lunch and then sort of forgot to eat dinner--so much was going on. I don't recommend that; half of us wound up feeling really yucky after going all day in the heat with not enough food.
We are spending the day in MK and decided on an early dinner at The Plaza at 4:30. This should give us time to get our bracelets and get on line for the first characters of the night. We figured if we get hungry later in the evening we'll get a snack or just eat some of the candy we get from Trick or Treating.
For our upcoming trip we are eating at Liberty Tree Tavern before MNSSHP on October 2nd. You could also eat at any of the resort restaraunts in the Magic Kingdom area.
We usually do Chef Mickey's prior to MNSSHP since it's just a monorail ride away. This year we're changing it up and doing a VERY early dinner at Crystal Palace.
We ate a 5:00 dinner at O'Hana's last year before the party. It was great. Got to the park about 6:00 and lined up for the seven dwarves about 6:30 to see them first thing.

In the past they have allowed MNSSHP guests to enter the park at 4:00 PM. When we went last year we got there around 4PM. We did pictures of all the decorations and they had entertainment going on. Then had dinner at LTT.
I want to add a lot of your decisions really need to take in what day of the week you are going and how close to Halloween your date is. The Friday, Saturday and even Sundays are busy. As Halloween gets closer it gets more crowded.
