where to eat a NON buffet really close th AK?

75 yr old Dear old DAD doesnt want to do the parks all day but wants to pick us up at 5 pm when AK closes and take us all to eat nearby and still enjoy some disney magic( ie: NOT an applebees) ...so where??

Jiko is a really nice restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Sanaa is also at the AK Lodge, though I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

How about the Rain Forest Cafe adjacent to AK. I believe they stay open a couple of hours after the park closes.

And you can eat there without having to enter the park (you can enter the restaurant from either side - outside or inside the park).

I would say boma, i know you said no buffets, but boma is, IMHO, the best buffet on site.

Otherwise, I would head to Kona, or one of the resort hotels. Is there a budget in mind?

no budget, my Dad is the BEST! but we never order DD6 a meal, we find there is sooooooooooo much food at a restaurant, regardless of what state we are in, that we share with her, she eats everything! so everyone gives her a little and she has her own buffet! Therefore if we dont do buffets, we dont pay for a dinner for her /and no food is wasted/and everyone is full andhappy!

If there is no budget...JIKO is totally what you should do! The filet minon sitting atop gourmet mac & cheese (yes..it really is gourmet!) is to die for!! We've been to Jiko 3 times now and it's always been incredible.
We have eaten at Sanaa as well and were very pleased, I don't think you can go wrong there, but Jiko would be my first pick..not to mention you can stroll out to the savannah and absorb the whole wonderful atmosphere of the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
