Where to dine with a large group?

Help! I'm going to WDW in March as a chaperone for a HS Senior Class Trip. Each year we have a chaperone dinner and each year we are disappointed with our meal. This year I decided to be in charge of our reservations. We have 12 adults. Where should we go where we can all sit together and we do not want a buffet? :guilty:

If you want it in a park, I would suggest Alfredo's. They have a semi-private dining room that will seat up to about 40 people. If you call Richard, the area manager, he can tell you when it would be available. There are no extra charges for using it and they can easily set up a table for 12.

For not in a park, Spoodles (Boardwalk) has a small section which will seat about 20. Again contact the restaurant manager directly to see about availability. They have no problem, in that area, setting up a table for 12.

There may be others. However, you would need to make your PS reservations for right at the time the restaurany opens for dinner. That way you could be fairly sure of keeping the group together.

A last item, which might be a bit on the expensive side. Victoria and Albert has a special room which is used for groups of 8 to 12 or certain VIPs/Celebrities who have a need for privacy.

First, God bless you for being a chaperone! We went to WDW to celebrate my parents' 50th in Oct '04 and had a party of 10. We did not get private rooms anywhere but did have PS's at some nice restaurants. Narcosee's has nice ambience and good food. It did seem a bit loud to me because of wood floors and higher ceilings. Nice view of the castle though and not many kids (except for ours!). Yachtsmen Steakhouse was the least crowded and has many different areas within the restaurant so they put us a bit off to the side. Food was very good, service too, upscale environment. Kona Cafe we tried on the fly thanks to recommendations here. THought the food was among the best we had the whole trip. Couldn't make a PS for 10 (if I remember correctly) and it's a bit loud. But the food and service were very good. Also ate at Rose and Crown. Others on this board really like it. I felt smushed into our table and the food was fine. But not that special.

Hope that's helpful. We're going on Wednesday and eating at Teppanyaki and Flying Fish so may have other reviews next week.

We went for Christmas 2 years ago, a party of 12. We ate at Artist Point, Marakesh, Tepanyanki (2 tables next to each other) Whispering Canyon, California Grill, Mama Melrose. Except for Tepanyanki, we were able to sit together at one long table. The key is to be flexible with your times when calling to make your PS. Good luck and have fun!

Hi! Disney Group Dining is a great resource. They have all the info on the number of table tops at each seating, etc. Each restaurant has different #'s of table settings, etc. Usually, they can not guarantee that you will all be together. But if you make a PS for the first 20 minutes of seating, it's as close to a guarantee as you can get.

We just got back from a trip with 13 to the World in November and each PS was different. We definitely wanted to sit together at each PS and we got all our seatings together. The PS may have said 1 table for 8 and one table for 5, etc. but the restaurants never let us down and we had 8 PS at a variety of restaurants. Even at Chef Mickey's we all sat at the same table, which was great since it was my Mom's 64th birthday! Sometimes we were not at the exact same table(50's Prime Time), but right next to each other. Some restaurants do not have the capability of seating you all together.

Here's the phone number for Group Dining. Give them a call. They can be a great help!

Have a great time. Remain calm. Remember that chaperones can have fun too!

Thanks so much for all your help. I'm going to call the group services number and check out some of your recommendations on line. Wish me luck! :flower1:
