where to dine this weekend?

Hello- never been to Universal...staying at Hard Rock. I am looking for any help re. dining at the resorts. I know a lot about Disney but NOTHING about the Universal group.
Liked what I read about Mama Della's (sp?) re. hot choc. in tiny pots for little ones. My 7yro DD would LOVE that and we all love Italian food. Is the food really good? What would be a choice for a more steak and potato meal - nice but definitely not coat and tie.?//
Also, please, how long does it take to walk from HRH to Portofino? DH has a massage over there tomorrow~ What is your favorite rest. in the resorts area which would also not bore a polite 7yrold to death?

Call star service and get ressies' at mama della's. You guys would love it and so would your 7yo. My girls love the place it's a must every trip. Also sal's pizza is very good and so is the gelato shop on the piazza. The walk is maybe 5 minutes but it's a beautiful walk with gardens on both side most of the way. I would allow 10 minutes just to stroll and look at the flowers and really enjoy the walk. If walking is not your thing you could take the boat to citywalk and hop on the PBH boat if it was physcially nessecary for your party. Have a great trip and a tip on the spa the japense silk facial is to die for even better (really i promise) than the well being massage! Have a great trip.

Love Mama Della's! My kids had the hot chocolate in those cute pots! Check out Jakes at Royal Pacific, we really enjoyed it both times we ate there. I had steak and it was excellent. There is a steak house at HRH called The Palm. It wasnt my type of atmosphere and we walked out before eating there. It is a chain that gets rave reviews for their steaks.
