Our guide will be calling us tomorrow to wrap everything up on our 250pt VB purchase.

We want to go to VB every year, that's why we are buying there.

We will have pts left over every year(based on when we travel)

Should we never expect to get a res at any WDW resort, say every 2 yrs or so with some of our VB pts?

We were thinking about doing an add on at VWL, but we don't want to go there every year.

We want to go to VB every year and maybe see all the other resorts at WDW, one at a time every two years or so.

Should we have pts anywhere besides VB?

Thanks for any helpful info  :)

I think VB & VWL are the perfect combo...
I believe you would be able to get something at WDW as long as you are not too picky with dates/location.

Good Luck!!!

Someone correct me if I am wrong
If you are only planning an every other year trip to the world - and as long as you are not fussy to which resort you will stay at - and as long as it is not during a high DVC visit time - ie:1st 2 wks in dec - then I think you should be able to get ressies at WDW without to much hassle - just be alittle flexible with your dates - OKW is probably the easiest resort to get 7month ressie at because of its large number of villas(all villas). Plus OKW is beautiful - you will love it - and it has a lower pt structure - so you can stretch those leftover pts further.
Oh by the way

How many points are you buying at VB? Is it too many since you will have points left over "every year"? You many want to consider getting just the number you'll need at VB and adding on at WDW. Then you could look at VWL or BCV through DVC or an OKW add on resale.

Still, if you're flexible, you should be able to get something at WDW if you plan at the 7 month window.

Our friends bought in VB about two years ago. They have only stayed at OKW and WLV with no trouble. They are two adults (mother and working daughter- husband hates to fly) - no children, no need to worry about school, very flexible with dates and have no trouble booking.

kept in mind that VB has the highest annual fee of any of the DVC resorts. so unless you are going to use your VB points at VB - well Dean is right (as always) don't buy more at VB than you need.

We are buying 250 pts at VB-that will get us 11 nts in an ocean view inn room at a peak time or up to 18/19 nights in October.

We definately will use the 250 pts-just not every year. If we only go to VB for ten days we may want to go to WDW for a week. Should we just buy the VB pts and see what we can get when we do want to go to WDW or actually buy somewhere at WDW too?

Everyone says we will get something at WDW if we are not picky, does that mean something with our VB pts or are all you saying we should do an add on at a WDW resort?

I personally think you will get a reservation at the 7 month window as long as you try to avoid the peaks and don't mind staying at OKW. Now, I LOVE OKW, but some think it is too "old". I think you would have a good chance at a larger unit, but maybe not a studio or 1 bedroom.

In my DVC experience (which I admit is much more limited than many of the other posters here ;) ) you should be able to use your VB points to make a ressie at one of the WDW DVC resorts if you can plan 7 months ahead and are a little flexible with your accommodation dates / size of unit, etc.

Have fun planning!

As a VB owner, who hasn't yet used their points at VB, I have had no trouble getting reservations 7 months out at either VWL or BCV. I called on the first possible day (check out day, not calling day-by-day) and have never had problems. We've been in Oct. twice and have reservations for week before Memorial Day in May 03. Got the size we wanted, the resort, and the dates. I am very well aware that this may not always be the case, but for us, it has worked like Disney magic each time.

Thanks for all the info

lsutiggeratwk-thanks for the post. I hope we have good luck like you have had. We usually travel in October and May and will call as soon as the 7 month window opens for where we want to stay.

Thanks.

I can't wait to start planning our first trip!!!!

I agree that you shouldn't have too many problems getting onto WDW property after the 7 month window. I own HH and have never gone there - I've always stayed in Orlando or Vero.

Congratulations and Welcome Home!

All the best,
Shontell

We're Hilton Head owners (love this resort) but I would like to stay on property from time-to-time and was able, with the waitlist, to get OKW for Thanksgiving this year. I am thriled! I think as long as we are flexible when we do want to stay on-site, we shouldn't have a problem. It's actually funny to me, that the only time I know we'll be sure of using the 11 month window is when we stay at Hilton Head because its normally around a holiday but for our ocassional on-site stays, we won't have firm plans until 6-8 months in advance so having an 11 month window on-site would not be of too much help to my family.

Oh, by the way, WELCOME HOME! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

VB family,
I noticed on the planning christmas 03 post you were interested in going to BWV or VWL for new years. That will be extremely difficult as NYE is the toughest night to book at DVC. Most ressies will be gone at the 11 month window for that night. You might get OKW, but even thats iffy. You can always get on a wl and people do get lucky but I'd hate to have you count on it at that time of year. So you might possibly consider a 200 point at VB and maybe 50 points at BCV or VWL (if they still have any) You can bank and borrow creatively to fill your needs at both resorts. Also something to consider is you might have an easier time using WDW onsite points at VB than vice verse. Unless you want the 3 BR Beach Cottage at Vero, it's a lot easier to get in there than WDW

I've gone over just about everything.

Yes, we are considering a VWL trip around Christmas 2003-but we are probably going to add on 150 VWL pts as soon as we here back on the 250 VB pts we are buying.

My DH wants to go to the BWV-but it doesn't matter when.

Usually travel in October-November-May-he thought it might be cool to be there for Christmas and NYE some year.

I thought about buying WDW pts and using at VB but VB is our absolute favorite place and we go there much more frequently than WDW so we are comfortable with that decision.

Thanks for your help

Sorry, forgot to tell you..

They do have pts left at VWL-I was talking to our guide and he said they have 16,000 pts left for the June use year which is what we would need.

If DH likes BW have you considered a resale at BWV? You can save a little money that way. We started out with BWV resale while we waited for BCV to open up. The locations of BCV and BWV is certainly a plus.
