I am new to this and need lots of help!:confused3

Where is the best place to purchase transfer paper? I found the following link: http://stores.ebay.com/Heat-Transfer-Supplies

They seem to have good prices, but I am wondering if anyone has experience using their product. Is there another specific brand that is worth the extra money?

I am planning on buying the t-shirts from Jiffyshirts.com again, unless someone here has a better suggestion. :listen:

I am not a "crafty" person and can't believe how excited I am to make these shirts! Thanks for all the information and designs here!:goodvibes

I am no where near an expert - I've just started doing this myself!

However, last summer, my DH & I coordinated our church's VBS program. W/ our curriculum came various clip art that went w/ the theme that could be used for whatever.

We printed the logo theme off on transfer paper and made shirts for all our workers. We used Avery transfer paper that we purchased at Staples. We purchased the shirts for our workers at Hobby Lobby. I did not prewash the shirts - basically, because we were in a hurry & we were just happy to get them done in time for VBS. Anyway, the shirts turned out great. I see some of the workers from last year still wear their shirts, and the shirts still look fine - although a bit faded/worn.

For our trip this year, I purchased Avery iron-on transfers from Staples. I'm still working on when to use the dark transfers (I think on darker-colored shirts) and when to use the light transfers (lighter-colored shirts). We purchased our shirts on-line from Blank Apparel and ordered the Gildan brand.

Hope this helps!!

There was a thread a while back too that I saw about Hanes (I think!) and a warranty or replacement garuntee or something if you used their shirts and paper. I'll try and search to see what I come up with. I just plan on purchasing cheap shirts from Michaels to use and probably transfer paper there or staples.

HTH

Well I think I have read on here complaints about the Avery paper. I have used it a couple of times and you can definitely see an outline of the ironed on design. I don't know if other paper is better. That link though is interesting--free paper with almost $13 shipping--not exactly free!!! I buy my Avery paper at WalMart though--not sure where it is the cheapest!!!

I used both Avery (purchased at Walmart, cheaper for me than Staples) and HP transfers (when they were buy one get one free online). I preferred the HP dark transfers and the Avery white transfers. I had no luck at all with the HP white transfers.

I ordered my t-shirts from Jiffy shirts and am very pleased with how they washed. At least pre-transfer. I have only washed the couple that I messed up on and not the whole bunch that I made for our trip.

I used HP dark & Avery light transfers. My preference is HP dark. I bought them directly from HP during their 2 for 1 sale w/free next day shipping. (BTW, they're offering that sale again right now.)

I bought tees from:
  • Jiffyshirts
  • Michaels
  • the Dollar Store
  • shirtsupplier.com
  • Wal-mart

I didn't notice a considerable difference in quality in any of them really; however, I bought in quantity at first (25-30 at a time) so I used Jiffyshirts & then shirtsupplier.com. Jiffyshirts return policy was more restrictive so I switched to shirtsupplier. It made a world of difference just going to Wal-mart to get a better handle on what color I wanted to buy and when I was buying one or two for a design, I'd just buy it at the local store (Michaels, Dollar Store, Wal-Mart).

You should do fine. I don't have a crafty bone in my body and I did ok.

Thanks for the information. I tried to find the sale you mentioned but can't find the 2 for 1 sale. Do you happen to have the link?

here you go: http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/Q1974A this is the link for dark transfers. If you need light, just put the word "transfers" in the search box on HP's web site.

I know it's still live as I just bought 3 (for the price of 2) myself tonight. Be sure to put a qty. of 3 in the cart. And change the shipping to next day during the check out process.
