DD is wanting a few (more) princess dresses. My mom was generous enough to buy her about 5 of them (including Tinkerbell) from yard sales, some of which are old BBB styles. She really wants Ariel and I don't want to spend tons of money on them but I don't want the super cheap Walmart costume type dresses either. Any ideas where I can get a nice one (or ones) for a good price? Should I wait for after Halloween sales?

I would say wait until after Halloween or you could always look at second hand stores like the Good Will. I just read an artical in a magazine that said the "costumes" that stores like that get through out the year they hold until Oct and put them out then because of Halloween.

Good luck in find some more.

I usually buy ours after Halloween online at Disney. I have found them for as low as $12 each. I think last year was closer to $20. I'm nog going to have that opportunity this year as we will be on a cruise after.

Thanks! I'll check out our secondhand stores here and then if I'm unlucky I'll wait for the online sale :)

Just a thought, I preordered Lion King because we really wanted the lithographs (and the movie, lol). It came with a $10 off coupon or $20 off of $40. With that, I bought the Rapunzel dress ($44.50) and got the $20 off coupon. It was like getting the movie for $5. I was already planning on buying both, so it was a savings either way.

They have Cars 2 to preorder now, and I picked that up for a gift. Same coupon. Cars 2 comes out Nov 1, so if I get to the Disney store at open, there is a chance I could possibly get dresses on after Halloween discount. Just a thought, and it would only work if you have a Disney store close by.

Great idea...but the nearest Disney Store is about 3 hours away.

Have you tried Craigslist?

I have not...but Craigslist doesn't cover the rural area I live in either. I'd have to drive an hour or so to meet anyone. :confused3

I do have a local wives network here though, maybe I'll post a message there.

I just went to babies r us yesterday and they had some really nice ones one sale for 50% off, they were under $20

This ebay seller has the same dresses/costumes sold in the parks for a much lower price ~ I don't know how "she" does it but I don't mind ~ DD has several dresses from her. If she doesn't have what you want/need send her an ebay message, she'll post it for you when she can - you just have to get it *BIN*

Thank you! Those are a great deal! I contacted the seller.

Check Costco too. I haven't been in recently, but in years past they have had some nice ones for a reasonable price.

Doesn't really have a tail, but the Ariel dress on disneyshopping.com is on sale right now for $29.

Other than that, try ebay or do you have a children's consignment store near you. The Once Upon a Child near me had a pretty Ariel dress for about $12 when I was there today.

Mydressuptrunk.com

A lot of dis'ers get dresses there. I haven't purchased from there, though. My child is still in the womb!
