Would it be better to buy a princess dress on amazon or ebay? And what do you type in to get a size big enought for 14 year old? Also, how far to go up on price?

I bought from a place online that someone suggested on here and the prices weregreat and the dresses are not itchy. I will go and try to find the website for you.

thanks. i don't want to pay the full disney price at the parks.

For this trip we have bought them at Toys R Us and Ebay and they all look pretty good and are so much cheaper than at the parks with the exception of one specifc dress that was hard to find big enough for my 5 year old (pink Minnie dress to match her baby sister). I am guessing we paid almost what the parks would charge for that one.

could anyone please also give me some good websites or stores. Do flea markets in orlando have them?

You are not likely to find a size 14 for a girl. If she can fit a smaller adult size, I would check those out. As far as I know, 10/12 was the largest the standard Disney costumes go.

do flea markets there even have non-disney women's princess dresses?

If you are looking for a princess dress to wear in the parks, WDW has a rule that costumes are prohibited (except for the halloween parties) for ages 10 and up. I include the language below. Not sure how strict they are with this rule.

Disney World Guest Appearance Guidelines

Disney World reserves the right to exclude visitors to their gated attractions who wear clothing that could create a distraction. This policy is in effect at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney MGM Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Pleasure Island and Disney Quest.

Examples of unacceptable attire includes:

Clothing displaying offensive messages/language

Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as a costume (children under age 10 are excluded)
Clothing made with offensive material, (ie transparent)
Clothing that is excessively torn
Clothing which exposes inappropriate portions of the body such as string bikini tops, G-strings, bikini bottoms, etc.
Guests wearing wedding attire are discouraged from entering the Theme Parks.

nope, not wearing a dress to the theme parks or anywhere in them...but maybe at our hotel room and Downtown Disney.

This has been discussed in some other threads. I think as long as the girl does not look like an adult, and does could not in any way be confused with one of the Disney characters appearing in the parks, she would be just fine.

I would recommend Etsy.com. Some DISers even sell their work there. The dresses are handmade. Some can be expensive, but many are very affordable. I am a big fan of the handmades because they can be done in any size, and they are often more sophisticated and closer to the dresses worn in the movies. I do not sell on Etsy but make my own. I recently made one for my 14 year old niece for her trip. She really wanted one but said that she felt a little old for the glitzy ones that they sell in stores. I made her the pink dress that the mice made Cinderella. She loved it because it was unique, she got lots of special attention, and it was a little more grown up.
