In less than a month I will no longer be commuting 900 miles to WDW. I will no longer be able to afford the ECV rentals but will have to buy one and probably also buy an external lift to mount on my car.

Other than the four locations where I know I can rent, does anyone have any suggestions of dealers that I can contact in the Orlando area. Note I will first be in the Metro West area for a year while we decide where to buy.

Best Wishes on your move! I don't know anything about the Orlando area but you might check with the rental companies for referrals for purchase of an EVC and lift. The local offices of many diseases such as MS or MD might have info for you.
Good luck and please let us know how the move goes.

Cheshire Figment, I know two people who bought barely used ECV's and lifts from eBay. They picked someone that had no negative feedback and only charged actualy shipping costs and were very happy with their purchases.

Hope this is of some help for you!

I would check the paper for used ones locally once you arrive.

The unfortunate truth is that most elderly people that use ECVs pass away, and then their family sells the used one because they don't want to fool with storing the thing.

My grandmother purchased her ECV used for only about $400 and then when she passed away my daddy lets us have it on loan until the time that he may need it. We get to store it :-) They sold her electric wheelchair and external lift for the car quite quickly.

Some friends of ours just recently bought a used one exclusively for WDW use for about $700. They figured that it would pay for itself in about 3 weeklong trips.

Hope this helps.

My SIL's parents bought 2 of them that way, barely used. It's sad to think about why peole are selling them, but usually it's very helpful to the family to be able to sell them when the person who needed it no longer needs it.
Of the companies that rent ecvs in Orlando, Walker, Care and Colonial are full service medical companies, so they would sell as well as rent ecvs. They may have used ones for sale too. I know the medical companies here sometimes have demo ones for sale, and I would think that (like rental cars), they would sell the ones they rent out after a while to keep their rental stock new and in good condition.
I don't know if they sell lifts, but they probably have someone to refer you to if they don't.
Anyway, good luck on your move.
