DD is now in the age where certain things are "cool". According to her she is the ONLY one in her class that does not have a North Face jacket. And mom is a penny pinching miser so of course we are butting heads on this. The kids have a budget for Christmas and I told her this would be the majority of it if she wanted one as I've already bought her winter coat.

I've searched the web a bit but if someone already knows a website or store where they are cheaper than other places I would appreciate it.

She wears a 7/8 or medium in girls sizes - she is 8.

Yout can't get much cheaper than the kids ones, the Denali's are around $80. I will say this..... these jackets last forever. Just this morning I had DDs old one from 5th grade on (she's in 9th grade now, it's a boys large, btw).

bought one for each family member 2 yrs ago in Jan. when the stores starting clearing out for spring...durable and washable- the jacket will last forever

I bought Denali jackets at www.sportsunlimited.com in September for only $45. I don't think they are that cheap now though....they were older colors. I also have had good luck with www.sportsbasement.com and REI in the outlet section. I had to laugh at your DD being the only one without a North Face jacket....DD9 says the same thing to me all the time! It's the number one thing on her list for Xmas this year

ETA: sportsbasement has the girls denali for $60. I don't think you'll find it much cheaper than that this time of year.

Don't buy it from eBay, no matter how good of a deal it may seem. My best friend bought one a couple years ago for something like $50. When the zipper broke last month, she sent it to North Face thinking they'll repair it under their life time warranty. They sent it back saying it's a fake because the lining on the inside is not what NF uses. It looked so convincing with the NF logo embroidery and tags.

There's an outlet in Freeport (ME) that I'll be dragged to by DH next Friday; hoping to find some good holiday sales then! :thumbsup2

Honestly, I don't think "reasonably priced" and "North Face" are words that can peacefully coexist in the same sentence! :lmao:

However, now I see where you are! We're neighbors! Alabama Outdoors has an outlet store in Pelham. Its at 100 Bowling Lane (near the intersection of US31 and AL-119). I just drove down 119 until I hit 31, then turned right, and the shopping center is on the left. Depending on where you are, you might go down I-65 to 31. You'd still come to that intersection (of 119 and 31) and turn right, once you get off the interstate. I can't remember what else is there with it, but I was just totally psyched to find North Face jackets for my girls without paying $150-200 each for them! :lovestruc

Or, you can look online at their website. http://www.alabamaoutdoors.com/browse.cfm/2,722.html

They've got this jacket for $60, which is...pretty reasonable, actually! :thumbsup2

Macy's had them on sale a couple weeks ago-I don't know if they still are. They were 25% off. I got DD the fleece one that was $70 originally, I got DS a down one that was $165 originally. We don't have tax on clothing here so basically with what I saved I paid full price for DS's and got DD's "free".

Would she be ok with a pullover? Backcountry.com has them for $35!!

I got my daughter(who is a womens small) one in the Womens section. It's beautiful. I tried it on when it came and it was so warm. I got her Orchid
Purple. It was $47! It's not a pullover either. You could get her an extra small and I bet it would fit. Backcountry sells the disc. colors, which is why they are so cheap. I have to say, the Orchid Purple is gorgeous in person. The black one is $79 but all the other colors of this style are $47. I almost want to challenge someone to find a cheaper one that is new. lol

I see you are from Birmingham-are you familiar with Rogers Trading Company off of 280? I just got an e-mail from the and have all girls sizes for $49-that's half off! Good luck.

I got my daughter's at Omega Sports (women's small). I don't think I got a discount on it, though I may have....thus the breaking down to buy her one. They do run sales of 20% off in the store sometimes...and North Face may be included.

Thank everyone!

Laurie, I do know where the Alabama Outdoors is - I live in Hoover so it's only about 10 minutes from my house! I might check them out so see if they will be having a sale anytime soon. And I'll be checking out everyone's recommendations. I really do appreciate it. A friend at work said the jackets are a good investment that they will last for years. If I could get her to stop growing like a weed it might be worth it. :rotfl:

And it can't be any old North Face jacket - it HAS TO BE the Denali Jacket that is fuzzy, looks like it was made out of a muppet in my opinion....but then again I won't be wearing it.

I just found one at travelcountry.com for 89.00 and no shipping. Has anyone ordered from this site before?

Eastern Mountain Sports ems.com has the Denali for 79.20. Dd has to have a XL and they didn't have her size in the color she wants.

My daughter wants the Osito North Face jacket. How does that super-soft muppet stuff wash? The tag says that it can be hand-washed or dry-cleaned. Anyone have experience? If I buy this expensive jacket, I want it to LAST!

Thank everyone!

Make sure you check the outlet in Pelham, and not just the regular store in Hoover. :thumbsup2 And yeah, that was the kind my DDs both had to have too. No cheaper fleece one would do. (it's not like it's actually COLD here - lol!)

And DANG! I never thought about how to wash them! That's usually something I check (if it says "dry clean only" and I don't think I can get away with washing it in Woolite in the gentle cycle anyway, then on the rack it stays!) but since these were such "must-haves" it didn't even occur to me; I was just happy to find affordable ones. They DO look like Muppets, lol, but they are SOOOoo soft! No wonder the kids love them.

We should have a B'ham DIS meet at the Galleria sometime! (after the holiday madness dies down. I made a solemn vow never to go near that place between Thanksgiving and New Years - lol) There's more of us than I realized!

That would be fun...and I don't go anywhere near the Galleria or 280 for that matter. I do most of my Christmas shopping online and just have it delivered to my work. That shipping cost is so worth it when I think of having to walk into any store at this point.
