Where to buy a QUALITY shower head?

I need a new one.... one thing I have noticed is that when a plumber does work in my home they always say "Don't buy the cheap stuff you get at Home Depot or Lowe's".....

So where do you get the "good stuff"?

No, what theya re getting at is that they don't like anything you buy at Home Depot or Lowe's....

I think they actually are trying to get me to get my fixtures from them directly. They usually have brands that I have never heard of... so I am assuming they are expensive.

I got other faucets from a variety of place (like Moen), but we replace shower heads as soon as they start getting icky or rusty or whatever. They're flippin hard to clean.

Bed Bath and Beyond and Google Shower Heads and you get a WHOLE bunch! I have the "feels like rain" one, the plastic one, they make a metal one, but it was 20 bucks more, so I settled. I have used it for 3 years now, and it still works OK.

When we had our house built the plumber sent us to his "special store". OMG what a hoot! I refused to pay almost double for the same brands at HD and Lowes, but the upper end of what they have of course. Get the good stuff at HD and Lowes and you are fine... and saving that 40% kickback to the plumber.

I think it's the law isn't it? I think all shower heads here in Washington have a "flow" control built in. You have to open it up and remove the little bugger or you'll be doomed to running around in your shower just to get wet! (hahaha insert visual here....)
Seriously, with a low flow shower head the water will not even penetrate my hair to get to my scalp.

The terms are worth nothing. Like she said, it is the law.

You used to be able to just pop a little rubber circle out, but now many of them are made so that it is impossible to pull it out. You have to drill it with some special kind of drill bit, don't ask me what it's called.

But if you drill the hole bigger (which is probably illegal, too, I don't know or care) then you needn't get one of those expensive ones. Any shower head will do.

I've heard customers say they've been told in specialty flooring stores that THD sells second quality carpet and flooring and that's not the case. The prices are lower because the manufacturers can afford to cut a deal to a national retail chain of 2200+ stores.

PD, go to the store finder section on homedepot.com and search for your local stores. THD has a relatively new position called master tradesman for plumbing and electrical. This is not just a highly experienced associate but they also hold a number of certifications in their field. If the position is filled, that person will be listed on the site. If you have any questions about the quality of an item, that person would be the best to ask.

I've been using the Down Under Wonder Shower Head for Years.
www.wondershower.com I bought one to try it and soon after that I bought one for all my showerheads, even the outdoor shower. I bought one for my son to take to his dorm and his dorm mates LOVED it!

Your post got me looking for the showerhead I ordered from Sharper Image. I used it for about a week and it didn't have enough width to the flow so we had to move our body around a lot to try to get warm, (if that makes sense), I wonder if people try these things out before they sell them. I also have a table fan sitting next to me that no one else wanted in our house from Sharper Image, as it smells like must when you turn it on, that's how it came from their store. One of the daylight lamps from SI doesn't work etc. These are not inexpensive items that we purchased, I know why they are going out of business now. Sorry for the rant...got a little carried away looking around the house yesterday.
