This summer my family is going to WDW for three nights and we're bringing along my younger cousin. She's going to be 11 on he time of stay and when I was 11 we lived near Disneyland so we don't really know which resorts, parks, and restraunts at WDW have the best ammenities for her. She lives in Ohio and has never been to WDW.

Any Suggestions??

Well if you are not doing a package, I would try the Dolphin or Swan.
Deluxe resort, moderate price.
If I were staying in a WDW resort, I love AKL.
CR,Poly, WL, GF are all nice and have their selling points, but if I had to pick one, it would be AKL. (very relaxing IMO)

Hope you have a great trip no matter where you wind up.:cool1:

POP century or All star music.....my choices when you got kids!

Very kid oriented . Price can't be beat. Several pools to choose from. Lots of kids activities too.
:thumbsup2

Hi Disneylvr11

I sound like your taken a weekend getaway to WDWpixiedust: . MGM “ Disney Studios ” for the thrill rides I think she will love it if she in to thrill rides . Animal kingdom for Expedition Everest , Kali river rapids Magic kingdom is A must do in Disney for everyone . For restaurants I have no clue too may good restaurants to eat at but one sticks out in my families vacation must that’s Chief Mickey’s at the contemporary resort where you can have a good buffet meal and see Mickey Mine and the rest of the gang just . As far as amenities in the hotels it all come to how much you want to spend .

Port Orleans Riverside is a great spot. It has a really fun pool for kids, there are boats that take you to downtown Disney, an arcade, and an overall really fantastic theme. It is great for boys because they can go fishing or there are even smaller motor boats to rent. It has that Tom Sawyer Island feel. We stayed in the mansion section with our little boy and he loved it!

Not sure what your taste and/or budget is, but 2 of our favorite resorts are the Poly and the WL ::yes::. Both are close to the MK and offer good transportation to/from there (Poly - monorail; WL - boat). We love the tropical surroundings of the Poly, the beach where you can sit and watch the fireworks, and the restaurants are great :cool1:. We also love the theming of the WL, the boat transportation to/from the MK and the CR (for Chef Mickey's), and the lobby/resort is just amazing  . I would look at all the different resorts and decide which theme you like the best along with which park/parks you think you will be at the most and go from there :cutie:. But I'm sure you'll have a great trip no matter which resort you choose :dance3:.

What you might want to do is order the free dvd and discuss which one interest her the most. Alot will depend on your budget.

The access of the deluxe hotels on the monorail make things easy for some families. The Poly would probably be the best. But I also love the WL, though not on the monorail the boat service is very good.

AKL is a wonderful resort if your child is into animals. Make sure to get a room with a view. They have wonderful talks with native African cms and education talks about the various animals. This is a unique resort but it is a little far from three of the four parks.

I really don't think it matters where you stay there is so much to do at every resort. It depends on the kids if they want to be involved or not.

Onsight is my only recommendation. Staying at any of the resorts is going to thrill her. :hyper:

We love every resort that we have tried so far and I can't imagine a bad choice in the lot of them. First decide your budget to see if you want value, moderate, deluxe or Home Away From Home (DVC); then look at the resorts in your category and pick the one which appeals most too you this time and just go with it! You will have a great time.

I agree - go with your budget and how much time you will actually spend at the resort.

For us - we go between values and moderates. The values are great when you're spending most of your day in the parks. The moderates are a bonus if you will spend a little more time at the resort itself.

Good luck in your choice. Enjoy your vacation! :goodvibes

We asked my cousin what her favorite things are over the phone and she screamed "HORSES" so loud I thought I had gone deaf! After I could hear again, I asked her if there was anything else, and she said she had alot of fun on their family trip to Yellowstone. I did a little reseach and we decided WL. My cousin has no idea we are going to WDW and thinks she's just coming to my house, so this will be a great surprise. We still need to plan our parks and dining but when we booked the the hotel, their were 4 nights available so we jumped on it. Now we have enough days to do all we had planned. The first day, we're goingto DTD and if it starts to rain we'll go to Quest. How busy is Quest over the summer?

Only 1 month until she arrives! :woohoo: :cool1: :cutie:

It all starts with what you're willing to spend. Then start from there

If you're going this summer, 2008, you need to get your ADR's ASAP. Have you already booked a room since you just decided where to stay?

When its raining, Disney Quest is PACKED. I know this will sound weird, but given your short trip, if its raining, go to a park. It clears out the crowds and can be a great time to enjoy some shorter lines. Get a slicker or poncho. I love DQ but it gets so packed when the parks are either closed or the weather is bad. The conventional wisdom is to head to a place where that won't affect you. Which is why its good to against the grain!

This is the best advice!!! Absolutely true ::yes::

Have you checked out Fort Wilderness at all? If she loves horses it might be a good activity to head over there....

CSR! Great pool, transportation and food options. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

Here's our park schedule-

Day 1- MK
Day 2- Epcot
Day 3- AK
Day 4- DTD and if it rains head back to MK

We decided not to do HS because my cousin's mom does not want her to do the drop rides like TOT and if we went there I would give in and let her ride.

We looked into Fort Wilderness and have one question- To do the ammenitites there, do you have to stay in a cabin?

We still don't know where to dine at the parks but at AK are leaning towards Rainforest Cafe'. Any other suggestions?

She still doesn't know and I'm praying her parents can keep a secret because they almost spilled the beans last week when I was on the phone with them. :headache: :headache: :headache:
