Personally, I would do something offsite. When we've had groups of nine or ten, and been staying offsite, we've still had little trouble getting seating at many places.
There are a number of great choices inthe Orlando area. Orlando is the American mecca of chains, because it features a cross section of American guests. SO if there is any chain you like, you also probably find one in Orlando. Beyond that, tehrea re just a TON of choices in Orlando!
I personally prefer some of the non-chains.
One thing I can say easily is that you will get more for your money at most offsite places - even some of the chains. Kissimmee tends to be more low end dining with 'bargain' chains. I-Drive tends to be more high priced touristy. Elsewhere can be anything in between. Orlando really does have some of the best dining inthe country. Remember too, EVERY resort in the area has it's own restaurant - some are very high end, but some are reasonable and very good.
Another fun idea - if you will be on Disney the rest of the time - is to check out Universal's answer to DTD - Citywalk. I'd make reservations, and it will be touristy, but it's a fun place to check out, with lots of fun choices. The Universal resorts also have some fun choices.
With a group, two places that might be fun (I-Drive) are Vito's CHophouse or Cafe Tu Tu Tango - both are near the Doubletree castle. Vito's is a bit expensive, but great steak. Cafe Tu Tu TAngo will vary based on what you order. They serve their food as 'small' plates. As in each person orders two or three dishes. Then the dishes are meant to be shared. If you are too carefree it can get a little pricey, but it would be lots of fun, and if you do order carefully, it can be reasonable.
Another place that's kind of neat is Smoky Bones. It is a chain, but it's pretty good and it's not as huge as some other chains. It's a smokehouse. There are several in Orlando.
Still one more chain that is excellent is Timpano's. Not inexpensive, but also not too bad, and there's only about four of them.
I haven't dined offsite in a little while, so beyond that I don't feel qualified to make suggestions, but there are LOTS of choices. You could simply figure out that day what you want.
