This will be my first time renting a car at WDW. Where should I fill up before returning the car? What exit?

Thanks!

I always fill up at a gas station on Landstar (I think that's the right name). I'm not certain of the exit number. It is a major gas station and usually less expensive than the on-property stations. It's also closer to the airport in case you're renting from one of those "show your receipt and it better be within 7 miles" companies. (National never asks, they just look to see that it's full. Dollar and Alamo can be pickier.)

I rented with Dollar last Nov and they never checked the meter. I filled up the night before we left at the station across the street from DTD. Worked fine for me.

I always fillup at the Boardwalk Hess Station before returning to the airport. Last week it was $2.11, stations by Crossroads were charging $2.42!

I was going to say the same thing. That station seems pretty low (it is were all the town car places stop too.) We also paid 2.11 and this was back on May 6th. :cool1: :goodvibes

We had no problems going from there to airport on that tank of gas, we rented with national.

What ever you do DON't forget to get gas, they charge you $6 a gallon to fill it up if for you. :earseek:

I would suggest filling up on Disney property. The last time we were running late, forgot to fill up before leaving the resort area and couldn't find a gas station on the way to the airport. It seems like you cannot see any gas stations from the road you are on. Who knows what exit to take? Very confusing, especially if you are running late. We plan to fill up on WDW property and will not worry about the $5 extra it will cost for higher-priced gas, as compared to an extra $35 for having the rental company top off my tank!

Thanks for all the information. I'll go with the station on property.

Fill up the night before, so if you run late and can't top off before returning the car, you only have to pay for a little gas at $6.00 per gallon.

The Hess stations at WDW were $2.099/gallon regular as of two days ago, close to the lowest anywhere around.

Returning to airport via I-4 East (watch signs carefuly leaving WDW) exit onto 528 (Bee Line). Then get off Bee Line at exit 9 Tradeport/Conway. Left at bottom of ramp, cross under, reasonably cheap gas station ($2.189) is right there in plain sight.

Leaving gas station, do not cross back under, do not get back on Bee Line but instead head away in middle lane, required right onto McCoy, just over a mile to Semoran Blvd. and airport (north) entrance.
