Pretty self explanatory post really!

I'm goin in 22 days! Yay! So so so excited!

But, it's my brothers birthday whilst we're there, and I'll need to purchase some form of cake. Any ideas?

Hollie xx

You can order a birthday cake in most of the table service or buffet restaurants in DLP. Most people have them at either Cafe Mickey or Inventions where the characters come out with the cake and sing.
You can either order them before you go or when you are there by going into City hall

If you just want one to eat in the room rather than in a restaurant you could pop to Val d'Europe on the train and get one there or improvise by getting some goodies from the bakery on mainstreet and using them as an unconventional 'cake'

How can you order them before you go?

My room mate's birthday is during our trip in March, and when I called and asked about a birthday cake delivered at Café Mickey I was told to speak to the concierge desk at our hotel when we arrived?

It would help immensely if I can book this over the phone. It's supposed to be a surprise and I don't want her to become suspicious.

If you have booked through Disney you can phone up and ask for it to be added to your booking and then you pay for it in advance

We booked our character tea at Cafe Mickey before we went via the restaurants booking telephone number. When we arrived in Disneyland we booked the cake at the concierge desk at our hotel (they found our meal booking in the computer and added a cake to it. All went without a hitch and it is very special for Mickey to bring out your birthday cake! Hope you have a lovely time!

Thanks. Yes, we are booked through Disney. I'll try and ring them after the holidays.

I feel like a novice all over again. Normally I go with my boyfriend for extended weekends and we stay offsite. It's my first time ever going for 5 days, staying onsite and doing character meals... boyfriend never agreed to go to one as much as I tried to bribe him.

If I remember correctly its the booking line you ring not the one to make restaurant reservations

We're not booked through Disney (staying offsite) but we've booked Cafe Mickey direct with a birthday cake for our daughter. We've done this before - you just pay after the meal.

when we went we saw children having cakes in Cafe Micke, Inventions and Auburge and Cafe Micke was the most fun with real loud music and the characters joining in. In Inventions and Auburge it was just servers who bought out a cake singing

I had mine brought to me in Inventions by characters and have also seen the Princesses join in in Auberge. The only problem with a cake in Inventions is there are so many yummy desserts anyhow the cake is yet more food whereas in Cafe Mickey You can use it as dessert instead of ordering one

yeah i agree. i am always so stuffed after the desert in the auberge i cant imagine trying to eat cake lol. i have seen princesses bring the cake over as well.

i think cafe mickey is the best place for cake to be honest

Maybe hit and miss then in Auburge, Ive only been here twice and neither time the princess's came out but then again there were 5 cakes last time so probably too busy lol

Were having DD's at Cafe Mickey as itll be her first birthday so think shell appreciate Mickey and the loud birthday music over the speakers more :goodvibes

I'd say go for Cafe Mickey :lovestruc

This was my DD's birthday last week ...

She loved it! :cool1:

Awww what a lovely photo.

I don't need to ask if she had a lovely time ~ her face says it all!! :goodvibes

I can't say how tempted I am to go down the Cafe Mickey route.... but my brother is going to be 28, and I've got a feeling he may not appreciate it too much :lmao:

Go figure!

The Val d'Europe idea is interesting.... We're staying in Santa Fe, do you know how close the train station will be? Probably a pretty important question anyway, given we're getting the TGV from the airport too!

Thank you for all the wonderful ideas!

The Santa Fe is a 5 minute free shuttle bus ride away and the bus stops are right outside the station. You can also walk to/from the parks ~ it's a very pleasant walk along the canal and through Disney Village but definitely best to use the shuttle bus on your first day when you've got luggage.

can anyone tell me how much the cake is in cafe mickey? thinking of doing this as a birthday treat for my daughter (although it won't actually be her birthday on that day). also, in the evening, what time do the characters apear from - is it 6pm? we want to eat late enough to see them, but as early as possible!

yes, the characters start coming out just after 6pm in the evening at Cafe Mickey. If you've booked your hotel with Disney, you can pay in advance for your birthday cake by adding it to your package, this is cheaper than waiting until you get there. I think its around £20 to add it to your package in advance.

Actually this was one of the questions in my heavily-planning mind too... As it's going to be a big birthday for my Dad whilst at DLP, we think it would be quite fun to book a surprise meal at Café Mickey and have a birthday cake brought out for him - I just had no idea about how to go about it. I was just going to speak to our concierge when we arrived....

DLPdaft, so can I literally phone up the booking like, quote my booking number and pay for the cake over the phone prior to arrival? What would happen then? I read somewhere that you get given a voucher on arrival - but I don't want the surprise ruined, if that makes sense? pixiedust:
