We recently got the final "OK" from DD's friend's parents on her going with us to WDW. She's never been there, so I'm going to lend her our planning video to get her in the Disney spirit. I just watched it again, and realized it seems geared toward little kids. Not a whole lot of teens giving their reactions to things. Is it me, or does anyone else feel this way? And is the Planning DVD any different from the video?

I don't know that I've ever seen a video that really reaches-out to teens. The "families with small children" version obviously centers on the characters and kiddie rides, while the "adult" version has a lot of info on Pleasure Island, romantic dinners, spa treatments, etc. I believe that when you order the planning video from disneyworld.com, they ask which version you want. If you've got time before your trip, order the adult version and have it shipped directly to the friend's home. That might spark some interest.

It may be asking a bit too much to expect a teen to get too excited about Disney. Many people who have never been there probably can't get past the idea of seeing a 6' Mickey or Pooh around every turn.

On our last trip, my 20-something cousin joined us for six days at WDW. He didn't really show much interest in the planning process, although I could tell that he was excited to just be going on a vaction. By the end of the first day, I knew that he was having a really good time. I wasn't expecting any teary eyes while walking down Main Street, but it was a great trip all the same.

grinningghost - if you do request another, be sure and make it the DVD - it has additional features that include overviews of all the hotels - I also ordered the adult version for my DD and her boyfriend, but it hasn't come yet.

We have been getting the videos every year now for several years. We just got the DVD. I think the DVD is a little better. It definitely shows a lot more of Disney Quest if she is interested in that.

Thanks. I'll be ordering the DVD in mere seconds. :D

To the right of the main page you should see a link for ordering vacation planning materials.

Also, if you go to the respective pages for the Disney Cruise Lines and the Disney Vacation Club, you will probably find links for their promotional videos as well.

I'm not sure if the ones that we have are the most current, but the DCL and DVC videos weren't very impressive. Only about 10-15 minutes long with very basic info.

For Disney World itself, the current DVD version is VERY impressive. It has the usual video segment covering all of the parks. But it also has 2-3 minute pieces highlighting a handful of attractions, info on the resorts, and other goodies.
