Where is your happy place?

It may sound strange, but my happy place is my home office. It's where I do most of my work, but it's also where I read books, watch movies, and just relax by myself. It's the only space in this entire world that's all mine, and there is no place where I feel more comfortable. It's where I am right now!

I actually just moved a bunch of stuff around in my house and switched my office space to a room upstairs. It's currently a disheveled mess, with boxes of stuff and stacks of books everywhere. But that doesn't matter because it's the feeling I get in my own personal space that matters more than anything concrete about my office. Sort of like Disney World; what I love best about WDW is the feeling I get when I'm there, and how my family seem to be our best selves when we're there, not the rides or the attractions or the food. My office gives me a warm "I'm home" feeling even when I'm knee-deep in work.

Several spots in Disneyland, like:
  • at the French Market eating soup in a bread bowl while the Dixieland jazz band is playing.
  • in New Orleans Square when the pirate band is playing.
  • sitting on a park bench on Main Street while eating a corn dog from the Little Red Wagon
  • riding the train for a full loop around the park
  • being in Carsland at sunset when they play the Sh-Boom song while all the neon lights are lit up
  • riding Radiator Springs Racers in that one spot in the ride when you're going around the corner past the water fall and that fabulous music starts to play
  • going on Pirates of the Caribbean 3 times in a row while Fantasmic! is showing
  • walking through an empty park at the end of the night
  • going on Splash Mountain with my daughter late at night and screaming out loud "HELP ME, JESUS!" at every drop in the ride.
  • Autopia while one of my kids is driving

1. The Eiffel Tower
2. An outdoor cafe in the Tuileries Garden, when the chestnut trees are in bloom
3. Virtually any place in Tuscany

France. I j’adore Paris and the Provence region. Can’t wait to be able to go again.

Any dog park or in the company of a friendly dog
Our local beaches
Disney, of course. Dying for a trip, but we keep it going with music and family threads where we share all things Disney that we come across

My locally-owned bookstore. It's very quaint and could star in the movie "You've Got Mail." The shop has a shop dog that looks like an oversized, more mellow version of our dog, and pre-pandemic we could bring our dog with us. Everyone knows your name when you come so you feel like you're at a PG version of Cheers. During the lockdown, they offered home deliveries in paper bags with bows and brightly colored tissue paper. I love that place and discover something new every time I go.

Currently it's home. My den is a great space.

I can't wait for it to be Disneyland. I even have a lovely, retro looking D23 Disneyland patch as my little emblem of longing and someday-to-be-fulfilled dreams.

I tried to think of not saying the obvious, but WDW is indeed my happy place. I try to get there every two years, but this time I haven't been since 2017 and can't wait to get back next December.

Same here. We are going next Thanksgiving. I should also add any zoo or aquarium or anywhere we take a vacation and attending MLB or NFL games.
