Where is the best coffee in DL?

It was actually a major shock to me that the DLH didn't have a coffeemaker in the room. Its a standard at WDW and frankly at most hotel chains particularly those that have 3 and 4 star ratings. Why is this? It was the strangest thing about my stay there.

I've heard it has something to do with the "old" wiring of the building.

Which is kind of scary.

Anyway, I've also read you can get them if you ask for one.



I have this fabulous electric tea kettle that boils water in NO time flat. When camping we just boil water on the Coleman, but I suppose if we're bringing the french press we might have to bring that too. This is sounding like a complicated trip. Maybe I'll just run to compass books.

and for the record, I have lived in WA since I was 17 (with some time off), but I grew up in CA, near Menlo Park (Peets). I was working on campus starting in '87, making espresso shakes, lattes, and so on before anyone else mainstream was making them...

I can't recall the brand of coffee beans in our premium room at CCI, but I was surprised when I saw there was a grinder in the room.......

I'm not sure about it being the best coffee but on our last trip our ART driver told us that if you buy a cup of coffee from the Blue Ribbon Bakery you can have it refilled all-day there for free, you must have your receipt though.

Yup - I confess, a NWer. My favorites are Peet's and Lavazza beans/Super Crema (imported from Italy) for my espresso machine at home (actually Lavazza whole beans price is comparable to Starbuck's beans). I don't like a weak nor a burnt taste. No offense to others who like the park stuff -just one of my personal pet peeve pickinesses.

CoolPool, DLH has coffee makers but you have to request them! They have some ridiculous excuse about how much power is sucked by leaving one in every room. Huh. They're never plugged in anyway, and could it be worse than the blow dryer they have on the wall?

Slap me silly, I feel an idiot. You must request them! Hallelujah! Am I going to have this problem at the Paradise Pier too? Thanks so much for this information, DizMe!

Wrong place.. Blue Ribbon no longer offers refills.. but across the street the Market House DOES .
Only valid on plain or flavored coffee (not on the cinnamon tea-- bummer) , just keep the receipt. Good for when it's chilly in the offseason.
Yeah, it's no the best but hey it's a decent deal for the caffeine infusion without leaving the park.
Also, if you buy a mug you get a free cup of coffee. You can keep the receipt and use it later in the day if you don't want the coffee at time of mug purchase.

Coffee is all in the beans. If you find a company you like I think you should have your own beans roasted and store them in a airtight container. Grind fresh everyday! We would heat purified water in the micro and add it to the french press. We brought small flavorings and bought a small creme or whole milk? in the hotel. I do suggest that you bring a covered mug with you so that you can carry it around with you, just in case you dont finish it at the hotel. My DH and I couldnt go on with out our coffee every morning. I will not buy or waist my money on coffee in the parks. Sorry live and learn and know we are stuck being coffee snobs. Cafe oh Latte!

No, according to their webpage, they have coffeemakers in their rooms.

I took a French Press travel mug and a hot pot (got it for $10 at Target), but how do you deal with the coffee ground mess? Wash all those grounds down the sink?? I felt kinda guilty about plumbing with that one. I took instant espresso powder last time to be on the safe side but didn't end up using it. I usually ask the maid (after I've tipped her) for extra coffee and double up on the pre-portioned pods.

Also, a great souvenier is the plastic commuter mugs you get with coffee or hot chocolate. I got the coffee once (never again) but the kids love hot chocolate watching an evening parade or fireworks. I did use it to load up on coffee when we stayed at PPH Concierge (dreamy!) and they do have really good drip coffee. Expect the design to rub off the commuter mug in the dishwasher or with a scouring pad but it is good for a while and makes me smile with memories.

I agree with those who brew their own coffee in the room.
At DLH we requested a coffee maker and I brought my own coffee already ground(Graffeo's!! so goooood) and then ordered half and half with my Safeway.com order.
We downed our coffee in the morning before we left the room.
I think I'll bring some paper cups with lids this year(Starbucks style), so we can enjoy it while waiting in line to get in the park. And then just toss it when we're done.
I hate to rush my coffee drinking.
Last year my DH said I should have brought our travel mugs but I didn't want to schlep it around in my bag all day.

Once all the liquids are out (aka, coffee in my belly), I usually take a tissue and dump it into a trashcan that has a liner (which they usually do) it ends up being very little that goes down the drain.

If I want coffee, I go to the Jazz Kitchen Express. They use the Cafe Du Monde chicory blend that I'm partial to (it's what I live on when the closest coffee place is closed for the night during finals week).

Now, there's some good stuff. Finding a good beignet to go along with it is even harder than finding a good coffee in the parks or DTD.

All of DLR uses Nestcafe coffee because of a corporate sponsorship agreement with Nestle. (Nescacrap, I call it)

The only place to get anything other than Nescacrap in DLR is at the Compass Bookstore in DTD. I have read that they use Peet's coffee.

ah that is not necessarily true.....if you go to Cafe Orleans, BB, Carnation Cafe, their coffee is distinctively different than the Nescacaca...I cant stand the Nescafe...and as the other say..Compass bookstore in DD, the coffee shop next to Goofys Kitchen, and Hearthstone Lounge as well as storytellers and Napa Rose....also in DCA The Vineyard Room and Trattoria have good coffee..I too am a coffee snob...I drink african, ethiopian mix...I likes it stronggggggggggggg....

eww that is some weak coffee there....I thought it would be good too and one morning I wanted begnets so I stopped there for that and some coffee...oh god it was weak....I have to have strong coffee and that is NOT strong!!

haha when I went to SF this summer we stayed one night at the Westin and they have a single 12 oz cup maker and they use starbucks sumatra and it comes in single cup filters so I took about 5 of them for my next trip to DL

in most of the cs places and stores they do but In the many many times and years Ive gone to DL Ive asked all of these places and they dont serve nescacaca...Im telling you I know the difference...I hate it and I would know if it is.....BB and CO uses Cafe Du Monde

I know I'm digressing a bit but the chicory served at Cafe du Monde in New Orleans is certainly not weak! I haven't had it at Jazz Kitchen Express but everywhere else I've had it, it's pretty heavy stuff.
