I think I did a real good job of not saying anything ugly back even though i felt like being totally snarky... well maybe I was a little.

i agree with you Jack. I've marched my kids back a couple of times to get things cleared up from the teacher. That was when my kids were in elementary. It doesn't happen now. They are both responsible students.

Wow, I just read the whole thing. They were harsh! So since he's 18 now, tell us, was he scarred for life from the horrible humliation of his evil stepmother?

LOL, It was a little harsh I thought, but honestly Im taking it very well.

Nope he seems to be fine, he is a good boy who loves his family, has managed to stay out of trouble and is going to culinary school in the fall. He seems to really like me and his bio mom always tells me how lucky he is to have me in his life. I take that as a HUGE compliment considering how much we havent gotten along over the years. We havent always gotten along, but who does. Teenagers can be hard to deal with, but overall we have been very lucky. No drugs, no drinking and he is looking foward to a bright future, now if I can just find a way to keep those stinky girls away from him we will be good.

Well if you look at who thought you were so horrible you would see a pattern. One of those posters, not naming names, has a habit of trying to make everyone else look bad while trying to make themselves out to be perfect. Ignore them!

I was thinking that too lol, which is why I didnt totally go off the deep end, but trust me it took everything I had not too. I just figured it wouldn't get me anywhere.... See I am learning!

Its so funny , when I first got on the Dis there were issues that would just send me into a FRENZY.. but now Im learning to hit the back button on alot of things. I just had no idea that embarrassing my child would get me labeled. Ill know next time. I can remember at the age of 11-13 if my mom breathed too loud I almost died of embarrassment, guess she was cruel too.

I just finished reading the entire thread and let me say that I the way you handled the situation with your son and the "perfect parent" in the thread! Being a teacher and a mom of two teenage sons, I think I may qualify to give you a big !

Gee if I had a $ for every time I've been embarrassed or embarrassed someone I could retire! And for the record it is NOT hard to embarrass a teenager.....just look at Uncle Buck!

The bad thing about saying you'd NEVER do something as a parent is that sometimes you end up having to eat crow and DO IT! I learned that the hard way!

I just stuck up for you too. Sorry, but boys who are hardheaded get enough threats to make up for the "moment of embarassent". And as a stepmother raising stepchildren with not alot of help from the one who is the "fun" parent, well it sounded like you were a mom. The "real" deal.

I was "awful" for questioning "Easter Baskets"...

I read that thread and after I posted about what i was giving my kids ( 18 yr old included) I bowed out.

I kinda get what you were saying about the religion thing and baskets. Ill be honest, I just like giving my kids presents and dont buy alot of stuff during the year because if I bought them something everytime they said "I want" I would be broke. Im one of those moms that save that kind of stuff for the holidays, so we do all of them big. It did get like you were a mean mom on that thread, which you arent, you are just trying to figure out how to balance Easter and religion or the lack there of.
