Where is my "Lifetime" TV?

We just returned and were saddened that it seems they removed Lifetime from the list of channels. Come to think of it, we barely got any channels and several religious channels. When did this happen?

That was our favorite thing to do on about Day 3 of a WDW trip - take a day off and lounge around watching Lifetime movies. I'm sad they're gone, too - even though I never turn on that channel at home!!

It's been within the last few months, I think. They get MSNBC now, which I like, but the TV lineup at WDW is always terrible. Time to bring DVDs!!

Oh I feel good knowing I am not the only one missing Lifetime! I never watch it at home but always end ip watching it on vacation. The kids go to bed at around 8 so DH and I would watch Lifetime while relaxing at night.

I understand that they want us out of the rooms, but sometimes I like being in my room and it would be nice to have SOMETHING to watch.

The TV lineup is horrendous. We had two days of torrential downpour and didn't want to deal with the parks those days. It would have been nice to have some basic cable channels.

I dont watch it at home either, my life is dramatic enough, but on my girls trip, this was my Bff's morning routine. Watch LMN, eat her Doritos and Coke for bfast and then she got ready for the day. Some days we'd both watch when we were moving a little slow.

The Channels are pretty bad. I keep Mary Poppins in my OL as a back up!

I was afraid to say anything, but I'm glad I'm not the only one disappointed in the channel selection. I know you're not supposed to go to WDW to watch TV, but I like to turn on TV when I poop out in the evening (I'm an early to bed, early to rise type) and in the afternoon when I come back for a rest. This last time, the channel selection extremely limited. DH didn't mind-hey, they get ESPN, but for me, there wasn't much.

You know, I used to think I was a big fan of everything Disney. A few summers ago, we invited friends to join us in a two-bedroom. They have two "tween" girls.

I swear, if I had to watch one more hour of the Disney Channel that trip, I would have screamed. Being without kids, our Disney exposure is to the movies and theme parks. Hannah Montana, Suite Life, Wizards of Waverly Place and anything to do with the Jonas brothers were all foreign to me. I certainly got the full immersion that week, though.

We had our own TV in the master bedroom if I wanted to get away from it all, but the channel lineup was so limited, there usually wasn't anything else on anyway.

Disney doesn't want you staying in your room watching TV.

Disney saves money by offering their programming. Lifetime channels were removed when Disney's ownership interest in those channels changed.

Is there any way to stream netflix or youtube to the resort television?

That may be the answer. TV episode DVD's would be good also.

We relax alot in our villa and will be at AKV for 2 weeks over Christmas so I need some ideas for more variety.

At the association meetings last December, the subject of TV channels was brought up.

They commented that they were working on changes that would make the channel selections available more like regular cable/satellite TV. (meaning a wide selection of channels.) It sounded like this would be a WDW resort wide change, not just DVC. They gave no timetable, and I haven't read/heard a word about it since.

I agree, the channel selection has gotten worse and I didn't think that was possible. Now with all of the new flat screen TV (digital) you can't get the classic disney cartoon channel. THis was always great at getting the grandkids to calm down before bed. We were at BLT 2 weeks ago and finally started going to the lobby of the CR to watch TV. We took our mugs and got something to drink and took the girls 5 and nearly 3 to watch their favorite disney cartoons. Mom and Dad went out, and this was great as they sat there for 30 minutes and never said a word. We miss not getting the classic cartoons in the rooms now and I always put that on my room surveys I get when I return home. Do you think if they have their PJs on and we bring a bowl of popcorn they would get the point.

I wonder if that is really true or they were saying that to try to alleviate the complaints. I hope it's true and that by the time I travel again in December, things have improved.

Yeah, we miss the cartoon loop. My son knew which cartoon would come next.

me toonice way to end the day. Assume they own 'the rights' to show the classic cartoons anyway.

@ WDW only time the tube is on is early am for news & pm before bedtime, just not a priority for us

im all for flexibility (not our thing to watch TV on vacation when we can do so @ home), if it comes down to it though, i don't want to see DVC dues go toward purchase of what i expect would be of a minority interest in additonal TV channels

Am I the only one who would never notice if Lifetime or any other channel was missing? I rarely watch tv while at Disney. I'd much rather sit out on the balcony at OKW and read a book.

Seriously, the lack of tv channels is why I never understood why everyone is making such a big deal of all the resorts not having flat screen tvs. There's nothing to watch, so what difference does it make???

Don't forget DVC members get free DVD rentals at the resort. It's all Disney stuff (including more adult fare) but you might be surprised at the selection if you've never looked. On our last trip we borrowed DVDs of Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers. That kept the kids entertained better than the usual Disney Channel stuff.

Personally the channels I miss the most are TNT and TBS--particularly when I'm looking for some of the sports programming that they carry. Kids would probably like to have Nick and Cartoon Network (not holding my breath for that one, and a week without Spongebob certainly helps improve mom & dad's vacation ) Aside from that, the local networks plus ESPN get me though the week.
