Meet and greet?

Yes Ma'am, this is from a Meet and Greet. :tink:

Now for the good...and bad news. I will admit, the wind was a lot more than I thought it would be. Went to bed about 2:30 after numerous texts from Sara; she'd just gotten up and ready for breakfast and was waiting for the rest of the family to "get moving". 😁 She said she was going sightseeing today while the others were "off on an adventure"...more on that later! :faint: The wind woke me up at 8 AM; rain wasn't heavy at all but oh my goodness the trees were being "whipped around" and there was debris everywhere already. There were even "waves" in the swimming pool! We're guessing we had wind gust between 70 & 80 mph.

Texted David and Sara to let them know everything looked fine at the house and went back to sleep. Another strong gust of wind woke me about 11 and I watched the trees sway while I had brunch. David came home about noon for lunch; the power had gone out at Sara's and he wanted to check on things here. The rain...and wind...had stopped so we walked out in the back yard. Looked like a huge limb in the pool but it was only leaves; most of the broken branches left hanging in the trees from the derecho had blown down and the front & back yard was a mess. We only had about 3 inches of rain, not the 6-8 predicted so that was good. Thought everything was a mess but okay so we went back inside. As I stood by the kitchen window I told David something looked different so I walked back outside on the patio and noticed the "different" was in the far back yard. One of our big, beautiful, healthy trees that we planted 50 years ago was uprooted and laying on it's side. 😭😭😭 I LOVE my trees and this just breaks my heart!

I don't even know where to begin to clean this up! :faint: David says he'll have to get his "big tractor" and pull it off the fence, repair the fence and then just starting with the chain saw! 😩 Our bathroom remodel will NEVER get finished! 😖 He was planning on sanding the cabinets and painting this week and now we have THIS to deal with! :headache: Plus...I LOVE MY TREES! GOOD NEWS is WE never lost power! Sara & Amanda did for about 5 hours but we made it this time without interruption. In the meantime...I get a message from Sara to check Katie's Facebook page for a "report on her adventure! She and Allie had booked a tour of a chocolate factory :cloud9: while Katie and Treavor went PARAGLIDING!!! THEY JUMPED OFF THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN!!!:crazy::crazy:

At least they had a "guide" they had to jump with! One of Sara's friends/fellow dance Mom's posted, "Katie B...GET YOUR FEET BACK ON THE GROUND! You just made my heart skip a beat!" 🤣 Told her MINE did too! 😆:tink:

Oh my goodness you have quite the mess. So sorry about your tree I hope David can get some help removing it. It’s a lot of work. Glad you didn’t lose power.

I would much rather go to the chocolate factory. I couldn’t even look at the paragliding pictures 😱

It IS and we're under Heat Advisory already today because of the high temperature and high humidity. I'll go out 10 minutes, clear an area of the yard and go back inside. Can't stay out long so it will take a few days to clear. As for the tree...may be sometime in the FALL before it gets done. Since we have no doggie anymore 😭 the fence doesn't HAVE to be fixed BUT I'd like it fixed so I don't have deer and/or wild animals in the back yard!

Sara said by the end of the day they were "chocolated out" :rotfl2: They'd tasted all the chocolate they wanted to! Can't wait to see what they're bringing me home :goodvibes! I "put in my order" for certain kinds 🤞. As for the paragliding 😅...I'm wondering if they'll let a 73 year old lady do it! 🤣 It's a "little higher" 😉 than the DS balloon but, since you're "attached" to the guide, I think I could handle it! It would be the "jumping off the mountain" that would be hard for me! Can't wait to get more details...and WISH Treavor would post some of his pictures! :tink:

It’s been humid here the last few days. I can’t stay outside for very long I just can’t tolerate the heat anymore 😕 I have trouble sitting in the sun for more than five minutes. Just leads to a long hot flash 🥵

I feel for you! I work outside 15-20 and have to be inside 30! Makes cleanup extra long but can't do it any other way...I'd be at the ER. :faint: I did get the patio and surrounding area cleaned today. A whole huge trash can of leaves/branches just from the patio! But couldn't complain to much; messaged my BFF this morning and felt guilty about having a cool place to go. She lives in El Campo which is about 75 miles from the coast and the eye passed right over them. She said they looked like a "war zone". Power had been out since late Sunday night/early Monday morning...out EVERYWHERE! Hospital and police department had generators but that's it. They had 600 linemen from out of town staying at their motels ready to go to work as soon as the storm passed. She was so worried about her THREE freezers full of food! When David got home from work he called her and we were getting ready to load our generator on his truck and take it down to her! She told us no...she had word from one of her "linemen friends" her area of town SHOULD be up and running sometime tomorrow. Got a text from her at 8 PM...POWER BACK ON! :dance3: I don't know how she survived the day...it was SO hot and humid. Hope you get some relief soon...I know you're absolutely NOT used to that kind of weather, just like we're not used to the cold. I guess that's all a part of "getting older"....we just can't tolerate the heat anymore! I may never go back to Disney World in the summer again! :rotfl::tink:
