...and don't forget to do online check in on MDE too. We actually got the notice via text that our room was ready BEFORE we even left for the airport! I can't remember exactly WHEN I did the online check in but our notice came at 10 AM and our scheduled time of arrival was 10:30 that EVENING. They sent room number so I was able to check on the map the exact location and we just walked straight from the bus drop off area to our room, held our MagicBands to the door and it unlocked!

When you do the online check in can you make room requests? So if you do the online check in you can go straight to your room? I read that there was a separate check in area for guests that checked in online.

I'm NOT liking my players leaving; first Dez and now WITTEN. And what's with your guys not reporting to camp? Salary negotiations/holdouts? Did they trade Amendola or did he retire too? At least...SO FAR...Dallas has had a good draft. What were the dates of your trip again...I know it's July but can't remember the days. Redstorm was here after school and we talked again about working out dates for a trip. (She SO agrees with me on the State Volleyball issue ... that famous "teenage eye roll" more than once .) I was thinking about July when son-in-law & DD will be in Las Vegas for the yearly pool tournament; actually considering not even TELLING them since the girls will be staying with us anyway! The tournament is normally the last weekend in July and I'm afraid they'll be in full blown volleyball conditioning by that time though ....

Dez was the wide receiver right? What team did he go to? Amendola went to Miami Dolphins. Patriots wouldn't match the Dolphins offer also I read an article where he said there were things he didn't like about Belichick's coaching. Not sure what's going on with Brady and Gronk.

We are going July 15-24. Thinking about adding a day on at the end. You should go in July

I'm trying to remember from 1 1/2 years ago so I double checked the procedure. Yes...you do make room request with online check in. We'd paid for "preferred rooms" (which was only a few dollars more than "regular") so we knew we'd be close to the "Lobby and Transportation". I think you can make 2 requests and I requested "pool view" and 1st floor. We had a really nice pool view outside our door but we didn't get ground floor...they gave us "close to elevator" which was just as good...and I ended up liking the 2nd floor better. Was VERY quiet (heard people walking by only ONE time which totally surprised me...a family rolling their luggage by for check out) as opposed to the lower floor pool view where EVERYONE staying in the resort walks by! You have a choice when you do online check in (you can do that up to 60 days prior to your arrival date and I think I got an email when that day had arrived for us); you can choose to go to the separate online check in area in the lobby OR you can choose to receive a text when your room is ready. If you pick that option you'll have to give them all the necessary check in information on MDE...mainly your credit card number...along with a PIN number...and print the confirmation so you'll have it with you. We never needed the printed sheet but I had it in my handbag. Since I'd received the text before we left I had the opportunity to check the All Star Music map and we found our room on it. We knew exactly where to go. We took our luggage to the room and then went back and explored the lobby and food court...and found the bus stop area so we were all set to go the next morning.

Yes...Dez was the wide receiver. He's the one that CAUGHT THE DAMN BALL that would have put them in the Super Bowl year before last but the refs said it was a "no catch" Jerry Jones protested (after the game, of course...they did the challenge but replay officials AGREED with the field crew) and after review (like 6 months later) the NFL admitted the refs had made the wrong call...it was INDEED A CATCH! He and Tony were a great match but last year was a hard one for him. Injury in preseason and he never played up to par. His contract was up and the Cowboys front office asked him to reduce his required salary (according to his contract) since he didn't have a productive last season. He refused and they showed him the door. He hasn't signed with anyone yet. I remember NOW when Amendola went to the Dolphins! You were NOT happy!!! That's really strange about Brady and Gronk though.

I looked at the calendar and actually think the week of July 22-28 would work...at least I THINK Redstorm would still be in "optional workouts" that week. SIL/DD will be in Vegas beginning the 28th but I'm 99.9% sure Redstorm's REQUIRED workouts will begin July 30th...and the more I think about it she MAY be required to be there on the 22nd. I know that's "short notice" and I may not even be able to find a place to stay this late in the game BUT...in 2012 we planned a trip in 3 WEEKS so it's doable. We even got all the dining reservations we wanted that year. I can't remember if the current FP system was in effect then or not. I WILL have to check when the dance National's are; last year they were at the end of June but they're in Galveston this year and I'm thinking year before last that was in July. I'm sure there is some other summer activity that I'm not remembering...the theater summer camp is in July but I think the athletic ones are all in June. It's just a thought but it's a GOOD one! We could have a "mini DisMeet" with Ed, Terri, you and I. That would be FUN and Redstorm and the Princess could go "off" with your kiddos and our husbands could go "have a drink". Would be fun. I'm not "holding my breath" but I will check into it!

I called in my room quests and will be calling to check on my requests again a few days before I go. My only request was to be near the Timon elevator so I will be close to my car, and as close as I can be to Jambo house and I have friends who will be coming on Wed - Fri and they are requisition to be near the Timon elevator. I have a friend coming on Sunday. 3 on Wed and another one on Thursday.

And last time, they sent my room info to my e-mail and I didn't think to check my e-mail on my cell phone. I was looking for a text.

Maybe they should! When he's "on" he can make some phenomenal catches! He's a little moody and temperamental but dang he can catch those balls! I hate to get my hopes up without knowing the exact summer schedule of the girls ... and I always said I'd never go back in July but that would be SO much fun! I'm glad they're involved in so many activities but that sure does make it hard to plan ANYTHING that's not related to their activities. I'm about this close "___" to giving up and just "going with the flow" the next 2 years!

Newspaper editor posted these photos on Facebook this morning; high school athletes reported for duty at 6:00 AM to make sandwiches for the 10,000+ riders as they pass through Bellville on the way to Austin to complete this fundraiser marathon. Redstorm is WAY in the back on the left ... until she had to leave for a Club Soccer game in Houston. They make 8,000 sandwiches and boil potatoes and pasta for the riders lunch break. The riders are truly a "pain in the backside" for local residents (we're literally "house bound" until the entire group passes through...it's IMPOSSIBLE to cross Hwy 36 to get "across town") but also pretty amazing in making this 165 mile trip on BICYCLES!

It is very hard to plan trips around activities. Steph is going to miss 2 softball tournaments this summer and we are only doing 5.

Oh my goodness! And I know she's just like Redstorm...she hates to let her team down. But her summer will be EXTRA special with that trip to DW and that's worth missing a couple of tournaments! I'm glad they're involved in the extra activities...better than laying around glued to their cell phones ...but sure makes it hard on us to plan things!
