Where In The World 21. We are now completely legal!!!

They just boarded up the windows at my office, feel like I am working in a cave, not liking not being able to see outside :sad2:, and I still have to work tomorrow.

I'm like that too! I like seeing outside and BRIGHT areas...the main reason I'm not a fan of AKL and all that dark furniture and walls. But...gotta get prepared. :tink:

But OUR postal employees didn't work during a hurricane??? :confused3 :tink:

And we won't be either. Saturday is when we will start feeling the tropical force winds. If Sunday was a normal day, Everyone would be off. Pretty sure there will no delivery on Monday. Some people will be in assessing the local areas to evaluate.

We live about 35 minutes SW of WDW, right next to Legoland in Winter Haven. We are about dead center of the state from each coast. The track update at 11:00 am had Irma moved slightly more to the East which is good, just hoping she continues that way. Yes, I am pretty sure we still have the plywood somewhere.

I am in Palm Beach Gardens. So when y'all here them announce West Palm Beach is getting beaten up. I am there.

Good eye Karolyn, this is from the Frozen ride :thumbsup2: But it's not a troll. Who is it and which scene?

I know the waiting is horrible! Like when we have our car packed and ready to evacuate. :scared:

At least you are all ready and everyone has shutters. I have a friend who lives in Jupiter, FL but she has been up here visiting her daughter all summer. She called her friend and had her go over and put her patio furniture inside and close her shutters. I'm glad she is up here!

I saw a couple from VA who drove down and got their 93 year old mother and her friend and drove them out of there.

It would be cool to be at DW. But they must close the parks and you'd be hunkered down in your room or in the hotel's bar :goodvibes:

Is it Sven?

:thumbsup2 Yes...one of the International Gateway shops...not sure if it's Port of Entry or World Traders. Now...the real "mystery"...what does this stained glass window "announce" or "advertise" ... not exactly sure. I THOUGHT Ed may have had the answer last night when he said he would point to it but I guess he just meant he'd look for it. :tink:

It looks like oranges, something to do with Florida or orange groves?

Disney has their own power and water systems. So it is really not a bad place to be at.

But surely they close the parks, right? Where would you hang out if you were there? Do the busses and monorail run in high winds?

I bet that is weird. They could have waited until tomorrow. It's not going to start until Sat., right? Oh well, better to be prepared.

The cute little rock guys...and I think there's only one scene with the "rock people", isn't it? With Kristoff and Anna? :tink:

Is it Sven?

This is Sven! :yay: Now just tell me who is with him/what scene? It's not the rock people or Kristoff and Anna.

Is it one of the displays above the registers that advertise travel to different countries?

I will say, in our postal workers defense, they had NO mail to deliver! :rotfl: The Main Post Office in Houston is our "collection area"...and it was flooded! :faint: They somehow kept the mail dry...so far we haven't received anything "water-logged". :goodvibes :tink:

Yes...you have to prepare ahead of time; once tropical force winds start...or the thunderstorms that sometimes start WAY before the winds do...you can't get out and wrestle with those large pieces of plywood....unless you're Superman! :rotfl2:

The airport is closing at 5 PM Saturday and it's expected the parks may close Saturday afternoon so the CM's can get the park ready for possible high winds. The monorail shuts down before the buses but no...neither runs during high winds. Too dangerous. Emergency services such as police, fire department and EMS do not run during storms either. In Texas, once winds reach 45 mph everyone is on lockdown; if you call for help you're out of luck until the storm passes. That's why they call for evacuations. Guests are instructed to stay in their rooms during the worst part of the storm. Leading up to that, when the parks close but the storm hasn't arrived yet, they offer activities in the lobby with characters, games, movies, etc. The food courts stock up so guest can take food/water back to their rooms. Once a storm arrives guests are instructed NOT to leave their rooms. The thread on Theme Parks is interesting to read. :tink:

Read another interesting fact about Hurricane Harvey in the Chronicle today. During and after the flooding in Houston, the City of Houston SANK 2 centimeters under the weight of the flood water! :scared1: Study done by Chris Milliner of NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab in California. :tink:

Yes, this is above the registers and it has something to do with Florida...not necessarily the orange groves or oranges but it uses oranges to "identify" Florida. It advertises something but not travel to different countries. :tink:

Just saw where they are closing Fort Wilderness Sat At 2pm. For those that asked, I am the blue dot.

Wow you are right in the path! You didn't feel like driving north in your RV? I think I would. I heard 39% of the gas stations were out of gas and that was this morning. And tomorrow is only Friday. Horrible to sit and wait for it.
